FPS games - PC or console

I'm making this thread to collect statistics on what gamers think its best when it comes to FPS games.

Please vote and if you want state why you chose.

As for me, I'm so used to playing FPS games on the PC using keyboard and mouse. I feel that you get more freedom to move and look around by using mouse.

Edit: Can someone moderator please add the option "Motion controller"?
I think XBOX and PS3 is getting motion controllers after christmas.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I don't have Modern Warfare 2 pretty much for the reason that I don't have a PC that can run it, and I'm terrible at FPS games on the consoles. Maybe I just need more practice...who knows!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Depends entirely on the game. Slower-paced games like Call of Duty are well-suited to controllers, but for twitchy shit like Team Fortress 2, a mouse is essential.

The last FPS I played on the PC was Shadow Warrior, over ten years ago. Since then it's all been console stuff.

So I'm gonna have to go with PC here.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Keyboard and mouse is the only way to go.

I can't imagine playing Tribes on a controller. I mean, if I've bound my entire keyboard to a different action I feel like there would be something lost in only having eight buttons.

FPS can work on a console, but it's mostly titles that have been built around the controller (Goldeneye, Halo), or with generous autoaim. Most of the time an analogue stick just doesn't have the speed and accuracy of mouse aim.

On the other hand, keyboard movement is completely retarded and the day when PC FPS supports analogue movement and mouse aim directly, I'll be a happy gamer.

Q, aren't there games out there which let you use a controller when you're playing? Do they disable keyboard commands when you're using the controller? If not, you might be able to hook up a joystick or something to use with your mouse.

Also, anyone ever used a trackball when playing? I had a friend that swore by it, but I could never quite get the hang of it.

There's PC FPS that let you use a controller, like L4D, but I've yet to run into any that let you mix and match. And usually if the game supports a controller, the movement still won't be analogue, just single speed and eight directions.

I'm aware there's software that let's you use a controller on any PC game by mapping keyboard keys on it, but that's still not the same thing.
