Rounding Problem in Excel
This is an older inventory spread sheet with a few charts on it. If you'll notice the first set of data and it's corresponding chart, the data say 57.6% brown, but the chart says 57% brown. So it rounded down, fine. However, the next line down is Beige 22.7%, and on its corresponding label on the chart it rounds UP to 23%. The rest of the colors round up like they're supposed to. So it would seem like Brown always rounds down, and all the colors round how they're supposed to, except for grey on the last data set which is 13.5% but rounds DOWN to 13% instead of up. I imagine it has something to do with the numbers trying to add up to 100%, but I'm not entirely sure and I have had no luck fixing it. Any ideas?
P.S. I know I can manually change it, but these charts will be used by many people for a long time so it would be really nice to have it work robustly ![]() Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire Most amazing jew boots |
Excel does this automatically with the largest numbers, to make it add up to 100%. It is an intended behavior, and you can not fix it.
Microsoft's suggested workaround is to increase the number of decimal points. Search engine used: Google Search query used: excel pie charts rounding Result number: 3 There's nowhere I can't reach. |
