Shooters with custom tracks support

I was in this place and it was the place where I used "create new thread" button. I thought it`ll appear in Video gaming - General discussion cause it fits that place but the thread appeared in root directory of Video gaming. Can some moderator fix it?

It`s usually a surprise when the game has a built-in music player cause no one said a thing about it before releasing or in development time of UT2004 or Devastation. Ddin`t anyone encounter it in more games than I know (except of GTA VC-SA-4)?

The thing is that nearly all recommend me not games with built-in player but games with open music (replacing OGGs,MP3s,etc. with your own same-encoded files with the same name) or the ones of another genre (Audiosurf and so on). Some old games with CD audio (burning your own WAV CD is a huge loss of space cause WAVs are HUGE!) or games with editor where your can use your music after creation of a map were also mentioned.
And, of course, disabling game music and using media player like Winamp and its global keys.

But it`s not what I want. I look for player which can play common modern formats (through OGG is the most wanted one for me cause all my music is in that format) and doesn`t need burning of audio CDs. I want to say that your need just to place them in a specific folder to make them playable or add through game means (Like in Alarm for Cobra 11). But if you know any shooter which plays other lossy formats too I`m also open to hear about them.

The incarnation of it is insignificant - I don`t even dream about something like UT2004 player which is Winamp brought in game (even pause, looping, playlists, explorer which can add tracks from any folder). I accept even the primitive GTA Vice city radio where you can`t change the playing order or even skip the track).

Most shooters won't have custom soundtracks because the music is cued up to change at certain points for set pieces. As such, a pure multiplayer game will support it just fine but anything with a single player mode is unlikely to.

Personally, if I don't like the music in any game I just turn it off and put a cd in my hifi but that's not what you were after.

Oh yeah, and the general discussion button you pressed was to tag the thread. You see how gaming threads all have an icon next to them saying 360 or PS3 or General Discussion? That was that, this thread is in the right place (But I retagged it to Help).

There's nowhere I can't reach.

There`re really more and more games with dynamic music but I think that the big part (maybe a half, maybe less) still has an old scheme: to start playing the track in some definite time and stop after one playback (HL2) or to loop one track the whole level time

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You're playing too many PC shooters then. All the recent console ones I've played have dynamic music changes in them. I guess if you were playing on console though you wouldn't have a problem as you could just listen to music on your PC...

Not at all, I play mostly my beloved (listed in the post) games for 1 or 2 years, but I do gamerips sometimes (extracting music) and see (through I don`t count games of both types) both dynamic and standard music in their resources.

Very interesting suggestion, have never encountered it before!

I was speaking idiomatically.

So does anyone know some?

In the meantime I got recommendations of STALKER Clear sky & Half-life SvenCoop. Haven`t check them out yet but still waiting for your advice too!
