Icon problem

Hey guys.

It's more of an aesthetic thing, but my icons are always highlighted now. How do I fix this?

Thanks.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

If I recall it has to do with having objects on your desktop "locked" so turn that off and you should be good to go.

Right click/Arrange icons by/Lock Web whatever

How ya doing, buddy?

Ahh I hate it when that happens. Hard to remember exactly what causes it.

Ok, do you have the Active Desktop feature turned on? (Right-click menu on desktop -> Properties -> Desktop Tab -> Customize -> Web). That's one cause of it that I DO remember. Try disabling it and see if that helps.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Another thing to check: Is your wallpaper a .PNG image? If it is, that could be the problem. Change it to a .JPG, or convert it to JPG and that should do it, if all else fails.

Right click My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced tab -> Performance Settings button -> Make sure that there *is* a check in the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop checkbox.

I threw that disgusting autumn background onto my desktop for illustrative purposes. I may have bad taste, but not that bad.

How ya doing, buddy?
I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.
All I'm sayin' is, if he comes near me, I'll put him in the wall.
