GFF Risk 10 Signups

Seeing as the last game was over somewhat prematurely thanks to some balancing issues, we're going to give it another shot. New players are welcome.

Here's what's going to change (all the other mechanics from Game 9 remain):
  • Tanks can only be used on states adjoining your territory, with their cost reduced to 10 gil
  • Atomic bombs corrected back to 1-4 states
  • Start with no money
  • Bring back Ninjas: Roll again on each attack if it fails the first time. Cost would be reduced to 20 (from 30), since there's no defensive value now.

We'll use the US again, since I don't feel like bothering with a new map right away. When you sign up, I need which 3 states you want to start with. Let's aim to start the game on Thursday (3/5). I'll start a new game thread, and announce the randomly selected turn order.

Players
1. nuttyturnip - Maryland, Iowa, Colorado
2. Tritoch - Michigan, Oregon, Georgia
3. Hawkeye - California, Alaska, North Dakota
4. Plarom - Connecticut, New York, Hawaii
5. KrelEN - Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma
6. Dullenplain - New Hampshire, Idaho, West Virginia
7. Araes - Vermont, Maine, Massachussetts
8. Rockgamer - Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi

I'm in, provided you haven't banned me for being too awesome.

My new empire shall begin with Michigan, Oregon, and Georgia. Also, I'd like to change my color to navy blue.

I'll stick with purple, and take California, Alaska, and North Dakota.

Y'know Tritoch, the more you keep on about that the more people will just want to take you out of the game on turn one

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

This new variant moves rather fast for my liking, though admittedly I was able to get a few licks in by blitzing nuttyturnip before the rest of us got whacked.

So, I wish the best of luck to my good friend Plarom. Go for it!

I was speaking idiomatically.

Too fast? Each round took about a day, and if you're not around when your turn comes up, it's not like we're going to lynch you. By my reckoning, that's slower than the original game.

How ya doing, buddy?

As if people aren't already going to try that. I might as well keep riding this pony for as long as I can.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Looking back over how the game played out, I tend to think there's a chance the same problem may happen again due to the inherent power of nukes, even with no cash. There's just an incentive to stockpile, and whoever gets the first turn after the stockpiling rounds can attempt to snipe whoever's nearby and has money reserves. However, the tank lowering to 10 will help as its now competitive on a price/effectiveness ratio with the nuke, although ninja's may be the new breakpoint.

All that said, I'm still interested in seeing if my thoughts are right, so I'll grab Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts.
