PSP : Regarding Save files
Suppose if I were to play a game in CSO format and I got the real game , could I still play it ?
Also this is about PSX2PSP : I played Grandia 1 and I'm on Disc 2, however my save file isn't working. Is there anything I can do to make it work again? This is kinda happened when I deleted the eboots a long time ago and I decided to rip the isos from my games alone. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
The save ID of a game doesn't change regardless of whether it is in ISO/CSO format or a real UMD. You'll be fine as long as the real game is the same region as your ISO image. Just pop the disc in and you will be playing from your saved data. Easy as that.
As for multi-disc PS1 games on the PSP... well... each disc has a different save ID. You can remedy that by making a proper multi-disc eboot to begin with, which will use the same save ID for both discs. It is too late for that, though, so you need to do it the "hard" way. Which is really not that hard, it is just a pain in the ass. Download CWCheat and read the readme. Install it according to the instructions. It is basically a homebrew GameShark/Action Replay for your PSP, but it also has other useful features. Such as... you can dump the save from a PS1 game while you're playing it, and then load it into a different PS1 game. Ideal for your needs. You need to have both Grandia discs installed on your PSP though, and the first disc needs to recognise your saved data. If that isn't the case, then you're pretty screwed. Back up the save before you get started. Come back to me for details when you're at some further stage of the process, like once you have CWCheat functional on your PSP. If you can't get it up and running, then I'll try to help with that. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Thanks for the heads up on the psp iso/cso.
Ok. i have them installed after editing the text docs. Now im on the game while holding select..now what, sir ? ^^; This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
You have to hold select for about ten seconds until the CWCheat menu pops up. It will appear as a plain text menu with lots of options, but most of them are irellevant. If it doesn't appear then you probably forgot to enable the CWCheat for POPS plugin.
The option you need is 'Manage Memory Cards". You can save a POPS Memory Card in a standard format to the Memory Stick. You can also load one from the memory card. What you need to do is to start Grandia, check your save file and if it works, save that Memory Card to the Memory Stick. Then if you load the other Grandia disk, and you can re-load the file into that game's POPS Memory Card. You must perform an IN GAME save before the 'new' data you just loaded becomes 'permanent'. You'll find your saved cards in the /seplugins/cwcheat/mc/ folder if you want to use them in another emulator or anything like that. Ask me if you have any other questions. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
Thanks for the help, sol. Unfortunately, i keep getting an error with numbers on it. Sucks, i shouldn't have deleted those old eboots >.>.At least i got to know how to use this. Pretty helpful
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
Can you send me the PSP save file? I'll see if there's anything I can do...
It will be under \PSP\SAVEDATA\SCUS94457 if you're playing the American release. If you didn't delete the savedata, there's still a chance I might be able to rescue it. No guarantees though, I'm not a magician. Don't expect too much, but... if I can extract it I will. If your eboot for the first disk is still loading the saved data, it has to be there. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
save file
You know...I haven't touched this file for a while but i'll tell you something, I played these games on my fat psp then i went and transferred over to the slim psp. What is more weird, is that some of ps1 saves all have dracula icon ...some of them. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
If you use an icon larger than 80x80 (I think) you get the Dracula icon. Since real PS1 Classics from the PSN only have 80x80 icons to distinguish them from other PSP content.
I'll screw around with that savefile in a bit. Additional Spam: That save data you sent me appears to be empty. Just a blank memory card. I'm sorry, really I am. It's possible that I made a mistake, but I honestly don't think so. Somehow along the line you seem to have deleted your original save data. How ya doing, buddy? ![]()
