Odd computer crash

Just a little while ago I had been watching a few movies and such on my computer, and after I shut one of them down, I got what looked to be a blue screen of death for a split second before my computer restarted.

The confusing thing for me is, I share this computer so there is more than one user typically logged on, and when my computer rebooted, my account had completely dissapeared (using XP as well).

Along with it, it seems that half of my harddrive had dissapeaered as well, but other folders and files (such as games) were still in tact...but there were several other things that bugged out as well, namely my opera book marks and so forth.

I'm kinda freaking out, so if anyone has an answer, or anyway I can get back my account that vanished, please let me know.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Take out the hard disk ASAP and put it in an enclosure. Try to copy everything in there first, then post again when you're done.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

You can use some recovery tool to undelete your files. O&O undelete works fine for me, there are other tools but they really all do the same thing.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Thanks for the help guys, but I believe after a good 6 years of downloading music, movies, and pr0n, I finally have gotten hit by some sort of data leech or some sort of trojan.

Seems as though someone is trying to make this computer a slave, so I think my best course of action would be to completely reformat and put my HD in a condom.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

It depends. The symptoms you posted seemed to be indicative of a hard disk failure, which is why I thought you ought to recover what you can first before doing any further troubleshooting.

How ya doing, buddy?

Or the system just crashed and everything the harddisk was accessing in this very moment got currupted. Try scandisk/chkdsk and some recovery tools as already mentioned.

Don't move/copy anything on the harddisk. This would overwrite your lost data.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
