[Movie] Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth Class (WALL-E)

Has anyone seen this movie yet?

I got to see today and typical Pixar they did a great job with the animation and story. The character interactions here, especially between WALL-E and EVE are probably some of the best Pixar has done yet and if not from an animated movie in a long time. The fact that there is little dialog in this movie shows that the animators are top class and really convey emotion through action alone. It has its laughs, its touching moments and its heroic moments. A fan of any movie should see this.

The short Presto is really funny too. It sort of reminded me of an old Looney Tunes short. It had a Chuck Jones feel to it.

Presto, I actually got more of a Tex Avery feel from. The slapstick was more VIOLENT than I'd expect from Chuck Jones. Either way, though, the little red quilt background at the start was an awesome nod to the old Disney cartoons that I grew up with, and the whole Presto short was a solid block of laugh-out-loud awesome.

WALL-E, though, is quite simply one of the best movies ever made. Period. The first 40 minutes, especially, stand out as a stroke of genius animation, the kind that has fallen by the way side in recent years. Animation has ALWAYS had the ability to tell its story through actions and sound more than speech, and that's what this movie does throughout, but most prominently in the first act.

Yeah, I agree completely. This is one killer film. Easily one of the best Pixar has done, and one of the most effective meldings of various ideas I've ever seen. You've got your sci-fi, your political commentary, your comedy, and finally, your very cute, yet somehow wholly believable romance between WALL-E and EVE. Pixar seriously outdid themsleves, they've set the bar higher than high once again, and I hope they can keep it that way. Their motto is "Story is king", and it is clear that they hold true to that.

Presto rocked the house, too. An awesome way to warm the audiece up, and, I daresay, a good way to get people primed for what's to come. It's not the first of their shorts to tell a story without dialogue, but it is one of the best, and outright the funniest.

So yeah. Go see it. Now. You will be glad you did.

Like Mo0, I want this nominated for BEST PICTURE and not set aside for Best Animated Picture. It's really that good and that deserving.

I absolutely loved this movie. I laughed, was touched, and went "Aww..." more times in a movie than I had ever done before

My friends tried nudging me to see Wanted instead at the Midnight showing, but I told them the only way I was going with them is if we were going to see this movie. I don't regret nudging them to see this instead. I probably would've picked apart Wanted on some aspects of the movie. I can't find anything wrong with Wall-E.

Probably the only way you'd hate this movie is if you hate Disney movies and Pixar films.

This film is like top-grade porn for my non-sexual side. It has cute robots, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi setting, excellent visual EVERYTHING, a good sense of humor, characters I care about, and a love story that I can actually, truly connect with. That's not even covering all of the bases. I kinda want to see this film again before it leaves theaters. Anyone want to go with me?

I'd been trying to see WALL-E with friends ever since the movie was released. Finally, I was able to see it last night. I must admit, I had little to no expectations, despite what everyone (here, friends, critics) was saying, since I'd already been let down by hype once (The Dark Knight) recently.

Oh, man, what a movie. I won't go through the different aspects of it, as they've already been echoed in this thread and in people's Journals, but I think that this is probably the best movie I have seen in the recent months. I loved every moment of it. Be it the score, the animation, the humor, the message(es) - it was unforgettable. Easily a movie I would buy on DVD to watch over and over, not to mention pay to see in the theater another couple of times.

Favorite part? WALL-E and EVE playing in space. Positively beautiful.

Ditto to all the posts above. The movie was beautiful, well animated and well voice, and of course great sound editing and design.

I love the moment near the end

when it looks like Wall-e has lost all his memory. Eve's desperation to wake him up and make him remember was so well done and heartbreaking. The fact that Wall-e moved so stiffly like a normal robot was also a punch in the emotional gut. And that great moment where he slowly clasp his hand with Eve's, and he slowly shifts his "eyebrows" and looks up, then says "Eva?". I felt like crying. And Eve's response "Wall-e..." was so well done too.

The bad part? Not really anything in the movie but the fact I had to watch a Cam version, since it won't come out in Australia in theaters till SEPTEMBER!!

After wasting $10 to see that giant stroke-job The Dark Knight, I'm wishing that I had just opted to see WALL-E again. After first seeing it two weeks ago, I felt good in a way that I hadn't felt in years of seeing decent-to-outright-bad movies in the theater. Even movies I kind of liked in the past 12 months usually had plot-holes and other small failings that were frustrating in small ways. This movie was an A+ through and through. Good story, unreal visuals, great music, great characters, pretty much great everything.

Well I'm shitstunned. It's not just a good animated comedy but good as science fiction.

All the while I'm about to post something spiteful about how Pixar remake essentially the same film every year (which they do, and have done with Wall-E. But what a remake!).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'll gladly go see it again next year.
