Facebook/Myspace with your parents
I'm just curious how many of you guys have your parents as a friend on Facebook/Myspace.
The good or bad thing about it is that you will always be watched and have to be careful what you write ![]() As for me, none of my parents have any accounts on Facebook or Myspace. Discuss. Jam it back in, in the dark.
Thanks to Fjordor for the funny image!

None, both of them avoid the computer as best they can.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Neither of my parents have one. They're aware they exist, but they just don't care.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
My mom has one [Facebook], and is a complete addict. I've added her to play things like Scrabulous and such. I don't really have to worry about things I write, because I don't USE mine for that. Basically just to keep in touch with friends and whatnot.
As for my dad, he lives out in the boonies, and for years he's pretty much just refused to own a computer, or something. I think he uses one at work sometimes, but I doubt he even knows what Facebook IS. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Neither of my parents do, which is good, because there's a lot of incriminating stuff on there that I'd rather them not see.

Neither of my parents have one. My father doesn't care about the internet and my mother is pretty much a luddite.
Not that I would care. There are very few secrets between my parents and I. If we had secrets between us, it would be ammunition to fire at each other with. I make sure no one has ammunition to shoot at me as often as I can. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
My mother only has a facebook account because my sister-in-law's photos of my nephew are friends only, so she wants to be able to see those. So yes, I have her on my friends list, but it's not quite the same as if she was regularly using her account to post stuff. Half the time I have to access her account for her to fix settings and so forth.

Neither of my parents are on Facebook, thankfully. I'm not sure they'd quite know what to do with it even if they tried to get accounts. And no matter what they said or did, no way in hell would I add them as contacts on there.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I just had to tell my dad, in detail, how to switch from one running program to another. Yeah. Needless to say, neither so much as understand the concept of social networking sites, so I'd be more than surprised if either ever decided to make an account. My secrets are safe for now.

I just made my mom #1 on myspace....dad should have thought twice before not letting me stay up on the computer
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
My dad made a Facebook profile a year or so ago and tried adding me every few days for a month until he gave up.
Silly man. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
My dad doesn't seem to see the purpose of interacting with people over the internet and my mom is pretty computer illiterate. So needless to say neither of them have facebook or myspace accounts.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
My parents don't care about it. Two of my friends' moms added me on facebook. They say it's for the pictures, but I know that they want to know everyone's business. Come on, it's obvious...

My mum JUST got an MSN account yesterday, and only so she could keep in touch when she goes to Nepal. I think if they ever got Facebook, they would be on either the limited profile list or the not added list. As Sass said, no need to give them more reason to think I'm some sort of delinquent.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Neither of my parents have them, as far as I know. My mom barely knows how to turn the computer on, and my dad is entirely convinced that just having something as simple as AIM automatically gives you a virus, so I doubt that he'd feel safe with Facebook or Myspace.
My best friend's mom, however, has a facebook profile, and is my friend. She rarely uses it, and I'm pretty sure she has less than 20 friends. I dont bother hiding anything from her, because she knows that drinking happens in college, and I have nothing else incriminating on my profile. I doubt she'd say anything about it if I did, anyways. I'm friends with my friends' parents, but my own are not on either site. They know what it is, and how much I use Facebook, but they have never expressed interest in having a page for themselves.
I find it much more awkward that several of my professors are on Facebook, and are friends with me. But what can you do but accept a friend invite from your professor? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Neither of my parents has either account. My dad's computer illiterate and my mum probably just couldn't care less. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't see anything that would suprise them; they know me too well. I do have my local pub landlord on facebook though.

My parents fucking hate myspace, they are so against it. I'm 22 and they are still hassling me about having a page.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
My parents would never get accounts since they don't use the computer a lot and don't really have time for any of that. I do have a few relatives around my age on my friends list so they're able to see what goes on, but I don't think they're as active on their accounts as I am.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
I got my mom, sister, and grandma on mine..it's wierd when i think of it, but i don't adjust what i post for them anymore than anyone else
How ya doing, buddy?
Music is a mysterious thing. Sometimes it makes people remember things they do not expect. Many thoughts, feelings, memories... things almost forgotten... Regardless of whether the listener desires to remember or not.

My parents don't have a myspace or a facebook. They don't even really know what it is muchless care to know what it is. They don't use the computer, but I do show them pictures I have posted on there. And if one day, they ever went online and decided to get one or the other,I'd add them most like. ;p But I don't seem them getting one ever happening.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
Computer-illiterate dad, and my mom is able to use a variable amount of computer functions, facebook not being one of them. I think she knows what is it in passing, but she basically knows email ad burning picture cds (Kind of). She only found out my email address recently somehow within the last year and periodically sends me silly chain letters, but if she got facebook for her picture-viewing purposes, I probably wouldn't add her.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
None. Some of the stuff there I'd rather leave it to people of my generation.

My mum has facebook and I find it ridiculously embarrassing...I refuse to accept her as a friend.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
My mother and father have had them in the past for whatever reasons, it's not like they knew what they were doing in terms of connecting to other people or doing things with their profile.
