Underclocked
After reformating my computer, I've noticed my computer is a tad slower than expected. So, I check with CPU-Z and I'm running at 1 GHz, instead of 2 GHz. It seems my CPU is underclocked for some unknown reason. Any ideas?
EDIT: I Prime95 to see if it would ramp up, but it's still acting like a 1 GHz processor. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]()

Press the "Turbo" button.
![]() Have you tried messing with the BIOS? There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Any chance you had a software overclocking going on prior to reformatting?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Disable speedstep or on gigabyte boards, c1e/eist (intel cpus).
Go into the bios and make sure the fsb/multiplier are correct. Don't see why a simple reformat would affect it though. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I applied a BIOS update, toggled speedstep on/off and everything seems to back in order. Thanks.
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
