Skipping logging in
New computer, for a while when I would turn it on, it would skip me having to log in and go straight to the desktop. I dunno what happened or what changed, it crashed in a game and now when I turn it on, it sits at the user selection screen even if I don't have a password set. How can I make it go straight to desktop again
Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
After certain Windows Updates are installed, for some reason it makes you log in every time instead of doing it automatically. I'm not sure why.
Assuming you're using Windows XP, you can use TweakUI to set automatic logon. Just Google it, and you should come up with a bunch of results. If you're on Vista... I THINK [I don't recall] there's an option somewhere in the Advanced User Account control panel, but I'm not sure. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
But I've not done a windows update in ages. I dont think I even can, due to not passing validation. I will look up tweak UI though.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
What game?
How ya doing, buddy? |
It was Lord of the Rings Online
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
If it is specific to the game, I suggest you post on their official forums.
Crashes - The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™ Forums EDIT So like, I didn't read it properly. To log on automatically, download and install TWEAKUI if you're on XP. Under Logon --> Autologon, check the box that says "Log on automatically at system startup", specifying your username and a blank password. Alternatively, under Control Panel --> User Accounts, click Change the Way users log on and off, and check both boxes. After that, remove any other account that isn't the ASP.Net Machine Admin, Guest, Administrator, and your logon account. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

If you want to bypass the user login screen for windows type the following in the start->run
control userpasswords2 this will allow you the option of selection which log in to use then to automatically log in by unchecking the check box [ ] Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer Clikc Apply and enter you password twice to confirm now on a reboot the PC should automatically boot to the desktop.
