Weird pain in throat
I honestly have no idea where this could go, so mods feel free to move this where it needs to be.
So lately, i've noticed that when I speak for a long time and a long duration...my voice area of my throat begins to feel discomfort and it kinda hurts. I honestly have no idea what this could be, but I am concerned. Would anyone know whats up....has anyone dealt with something like this? If so, what's the treatment to get rid of it? D: Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I usually get the same thing when talking a lot. I'm sure it's all natural, as it goes away the day after
![]() It probably happens because we're not used to speaking so much. About treatments, I would say tea and rest D: There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
I'm no expert on throats, but it could have something to do with your breathing and that you support (or tense up) your voice in the throat area. This is most commonly a problem for singers/musicians, but I think it can apply to non-singers too.
The thing is that you should be breathing from the bottom of your lungs and support your voice from the stomach/chest without tensing up your throat. Like, take a big yawn, and feel how your lungs are filled to the bottom and that the stomach goes out. The stomach needs to be taken out so you can fill your lungs to the bottom. If you laugh/cough you can feel the diaphragm pushing and it's this tissue around the lungs plus the support of the abdominal muscles you should be using. Think of first inhaling and expanding the stomach, after that should the upper back expand and at last the upper chest just below the neck, this should open up the torso and fill up your lungs completely. Then exhale by pushing with your stomach inwards and upwards so it pushes on the diaphragm which pushes down on the lungs like a tube of toothpaste. You shouldn't need to take this big of a breath all the time, but it's that principle you should be following to get good breathing and not relying on your throat muscles to press out whatever you have to say. It's pretty good to learn proper breathing technique no matter who you are as you get more oxygen into your blood and it helps you to relax. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
Go see a doctor. You may, or may not be aware of it, but this is a video game forum. These people are not qualified to give medical advice.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |
Thank you for those pearls of wisdom, Denicalis. However, i'm not asking for a medical or an expert opinion on what a simple throat pain is.
I was speaking idiomatically. |
It could be throat cancer, it could be a problem with your vocal chords, it could be a lot of things. Go to a doctor if you're concerned.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |
anyway Karasu, if the pain happens while you are talking, maybe you need a day or two of no speech, I do this when I get the flu, I communicate with a pen and paper as odd as it sounds. Some remedies I have used to calm it is a spoon full of molasses or honey, sometimes gurggling some salted water helped anyway. But if the pain is really that bad, maybe a trip to the doctor would be best. How ya doing, buddy? |
Yeah, we are more than just gamers. And if one of our gamers here also happens to be a doctor, by all means, they should step up to the plate. But if you're a gamer AND a musician, or a gamer AND a historian, you still aren't really capable of giving out medical advice.

If you insist on asking the Internet about your potential health problems, there are better websites to seek advice from than Gamingforce.
