Interview with Alexander Brandon

Hello everyone,

For those who are fans of Alex Brandon, which I know there are a few around here, you might be interested by an interview I conducted with him last week. He revealed many details on various soundtracks as well as his opinion on a few game music industry topics. A nice opportunity to learn more about this composer!

You can find the interview at my new website, by following this link: VGM Rush.

Thanks for your interest,
and have a good day!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Very cool interview, and he's a great guy to hang out with. One of those guys that I certainly stole tracking techniques from, maybe even samples!

I'm also really glad more game music composers are starting to talk about adaptive music, even if it is in a really abstract "oh we should really start doing this sometime" way. When I started out, everybody was still like "oh meh, too much work", but with Koji Kondo, Alex and various other big name game composers starting to talk about it and insisting on it, I hope maybe we'll see some shift towards this happen.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Again, awesome job on the interview, Rimo. It's great that you were able to do what Alex says is the most in-depth interview he's ever done. This was a really nice surprise to see up on the site.

He seems like a really neat guy.

Heh, I was going to say, "title" from the latest SotW reminded me a bit of Alex's early work.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
Check out my original music at my Soundcloud page!

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Of course, when I stole techniques from him, he was called Siren, and I thought he was a girl. But still.

Hey, he likes Jean-Michel Jarre! Veeeery good taste!

I was speaking idiomatically.

Great interview, Rimo. You really did your homework on this one, and Brandon seems like a very candid and accessible guy. I was flattered to see that you took one or two of my suggestions, but you had some great questions I never would have thought of

Excellent interview, Rimo! I only read about half of it in depth, but I'll get around to reading the whole thing soon. There's a lot of material here. I'm glad Alex was such a good sport about this.
