[Question] MAME Emulation - Emulating the Multi Arcade Machine Emulator

I just tried getting back into MAME (updating MAME Plus!, getting upgraded romsets and bios), and I think I've just realized that the emulation scene is a giant brick of bullshit.

Can someone tell me why I have to update my entire rom collection whenever these fools update MAME, which is every 2 nanoseconds.

I just decided to delete my entire fuckin' directory cause none of my SNK roms work anymore, and all of my CPS-2 titles (Street Fighter Zero, etc.) are all garbled to shit when booted up.

Is there anybody that has been dealing with MAME for the past few years, who knows what the fuck has happened with arcade emulation. I can't even lock down a good forum to ask questions, because there's 9 million MAME sites for every 38 million MAME versions.

I had MAME 0.64 for the longest time since it was the most popular at the time like a year ago. I just recently made the switch to MAME Plus Plus 0.117 since it plays street fighter 3rd strike, but all I had to do was move the Bios to the new mame along with the same roms I used before and it never caused me a problem. I never had to re-download roms otherwise I would have given up on it long ago.
Still mame is rather buggy especially in the sound department, the sound quality is just horrible that it gets annoying. And I don't even know why they decide to add some games to the list like street fighter EX or rival schools since they just run like utter crap
