DVD burning problem

Everytime I burn a DVD movie, it never plays on my computer. I don't get an error or anything, I pop in the disc, media player or whatever opens and it doesnt do anything. And when I put it in a DVD player, sometimes it plays fine then all of a sudden it stops playing, one movie I burnt had unsynced audio and video. I've burnt movies before but this has been happening lately and I don't know what to do to fix it, I tried lowering the speed, and nothing works. I'm using nero 7, I tried power2go (it came with my comp) and i still get the same problems. I've burnt one movie like 5 times already tweaking the settings every time.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

3 possible things:

1. The burning process had some hitches - maybe your computer hiccuped while the recorder was burning. Try a Nero CD-DVD Speed ScanDisc run on your burned disc, and post a screenshot of the results.

2. You are using faulty media. Try other brands.

3. Your drive is failing. Buy another recorder.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Zergrinch prettymuch covers everything you need to do to diagnose the problem.

Also, do the dvds play on dvd tabletop/standalone players?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm pretty sure it's not #2 since I've been using these DVDs and they were working properly before. #1 could probably be the main cause and I'm not sure about #3 because I just bought the laptop earlier this year. I'll try the scan disc thing and If there's no problems I'll probably contact the manufacturer since I still have the warranty for the machine.

Roan, some dvds dont work at all and some work, but they either freeze up or lag. I even tried it on my PS2 since it's probably been the most consistent DVD player I've had and it didn't work there.

here's a screenshot of nero cd-dvd speed

It stopped right after it hit the red part and judging from the position, that's exactly where the movie freezes up

ok, i went to the manufacturer today to get it checked out and they said nothing is wrong with it, they told me to install nero, which i already have. right now im burning a movie at 8X speed and its taking forever, 45 minutes elapsed and 45 to go. I've already reinstalled nero, so that shouldnt be the problem. anyone have any ideas on wth is going on with this?

i attached the log file, for my latest burn attempt, which did not even complete, it was at 20% and 1h 45mins have passed so i canceled it

I was speaking idiomatically.

Try some other media because your brand might have mixed reviews on them.

This site lists some good DVD brands.
digitalFAQ.com | Blank DVD Media Quality Guide

And if I sometimes check this site to see other people's comments on certain DVD Media.
DVD Media, HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc Media list

Can you check if your media works well on different burners?

I usually burn DVD movies at 4x. I use Verbatim DVD-R and burn with DVDDecrypter or ImgBurn.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
