Mintjam Introduction
I'm looking to get into some Mintjam. What albums should I be looking for?
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Just get their first one which is various game arranges, and see if you like their style enough to listen to their original stuff after this. Their 3rd one is game arranges only as well. They also have Mushihimesama and Ragnarok Online dedicated albums, if you like those.
Most amazing jew boots |
I've only heard a couple of random arranges from them suggested to me by an acquaintance, but I must say that the style is fantastic. I'm listening to a Temple of Chaos arrange by them right now and I must say it's masterfully done.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Their "GIG #" albums are usually good, though the tracks with lyrics tend to turn me off somewhat.
However, I'm very fond of "Atmosphere - Poteneko Academy Original Soundtrack 1&2". Some of Mintjam's best work is in there. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
The album Crash mentioned, "Atmosphere - Poteneko Academy Original Soundtrack 1&2," is the album that got me hooked on MintJam. I don't really like the direction they seem to be going in right now (more like an actual band with vocals than a vgm group) but thankfully they still have plenty of other stuff out there.
If you feel that vocals also aren't your thing, don't get their 4th GIG #Decide or Extra Gig, as they are entirely vocals only. The rest is wonderful instrumental goodness. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
I regularly listen to Gigs 1, 2, 3 and 5, the Poteneko Academy soundtracks and the Haitenai one (Mushihimesama). I agree with the consensus about their actual "songs"...I didn't like 4th Gig at all.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I'm screaming for vengenace... I'm shouting at the devil... I'm not dead and I'm not for sale... Ain't lookin' for nothin' but a good time... |
Their Mushihimesama one is pure goodness, eventhough I'm not even a fan of Cave's original works.
Their Ragnarok Online album havent been mentioned and it's nice too, though older than the rest and thus a bit lower quality. And then there are their hentai game soundtracks. Some really great suff, especially in the Ryouki series. FELIPE NO |

Out of curiosity, whats wrong with their originals?
I'm not a big Japanese song fan, but I like their songs... What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Nothing wrong with them, I just think they're pretty generic compared to their instrumentals (both original and arranges) and I'm not real huge on their vocalist. It's quality music, no doubt, but I don't find it very enjoyable.

I actually find myself listening to the 4th and 5th GIG more often than any of their other stuff. Maybe I like the vocalist more than most people.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
