Question About Work-Study (Financial Aid)
Going to college this fall and did all the FAFSA stuff. I got work study but have a few quick questions about it. How does it work?
Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Workstudy is basically just your normal payroll, but it comes from the government instead of your university employer. Use it for whatever you want, but it's intended to help you with your college expenses.
The reason university employers are so keen to hire workstudy students vs regpay students is because they don't have to pay you. Their only obligation is to make sure you get enough hours to fulfill your semesterly workstudy amount. Most amazing jew boots |
Another question I have is: The Financial Aid money you get (and any leftover...grants and scholarships); do you have to file it as money to got when paying taxes?
How ya doing, buddy? ![]()

Workstudy means government pays for a portion of your tuition as well as pay for the work you do for your university. You get a salary like any other job.
As for the FA money you get, the salary you get from work study is like any other job. You got to report the amount you get for your tax return. Grants and scholarships, I'm not entirely sure about, sorry. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
