iBook LCD fading?
I recently bought an iBook G4. (About a month ago.)
I just read a comment posted on a news site that said, basically, that the iBook LCD screen fades and is almost unusable after a year or so. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? :\ Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
I haven't heard anything about it, but if it were true, Apple wouldn't probably replace it, if it were still under warrenty.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Is your iBook G4 screen faded? Considering they haven't made a new iBook G4 in more than a year, I'd say you're probably safe. In any case, I've not heard of a screen fading issue being widespread.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
killmoms - Well, don't really.
Makin' trailers er'ry day. |
It seems a bit dim, but from what ive heard they all are.
I'm glad I don't have anything to worry about, I love my iBook. ![]() I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
I have an iBook - a G3 version - so it's hella old.
No dimming for me and I've had mine for about five years. I was speaking idiomatically. |
I've had a PowerBook G4 for almost 3 years now and I've had no degradation in quality. I don't know that there's any big difference in the LCD technology used from iBook to PowerBook, but I would guess that any noticeable quality issues are isolated cases and not widespread.
You can always add AppleCare to a product even if you've let it expire, so even if you do have problems, it shouldn't cost a whole lot to get fixed (comparatively against having to purchase a whole new laptop, at least). What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
