Frogs are awesome.
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...ouse-frog.html
![]() Discuss about frogs here. O.o I seen a TINY frog in my hometown (few miles from the swamplands) and this frog is no bigger than a fingernail! O.O' I had biology course where I had to dissect a frog once. Its doesn't really sicken me as much as the smell did. But that's about it... o.O My favorite type of frog would be the ones that are so HUGE or the fast ones. They seem to have character. ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark. |

I like the tiny colorful frogs that are highly toxic. You know, the ones that people lick to get high (might be another frog or toad lol). I know the whole frog marriage the people are doing is strange, but at least it helps them cope for now by slightly easing their worries.
There's nowhere I can't reach.
"We Stole the Eagle from the Air Force, the Anchor from the Navy, and the Rope from the Army. On the seventh day, while God rested, we over-ran his perimeter and stole the globe, and we've been running the show ever since. We live like soldiers, talk like sailors, and slap the hell out of both of them. WARRIORS BY DAY, LOVERS BY NIGHT, PROFESSIONALS BY CHOICE, AND MARINES BY THE GRACE OF GOD."

Obviously I agree that frogs are awesome. De arimasu! This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]()

Recently, I was looking into getting some poison dart frogs; those tiny colorful ones that SemperFidelis had mentioned. I can't remember why I decided against getting them exactly, but I think it was because they were expensive to purchase, expensive to maintain, and extremely delicate in captivity. I love frogs though (and toads and lizards and snakes). I've got them all over the place in my apartment and at work. One day I'll get a few more. ...and a bearded dragon. ^_^ I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
When my sister and I were little we used to catch toads and make little habitats for them out of cardboard boxes. We eventually got really fancy with it and would cut circular shapes out of the sides and insert the mouths of jars into them to make sun rooms. We'd also put pools in them for swimming and drinking, and mounds of dirt since toads like to burrow. The only bad thing was that toads aren't too bright. They like hot, sunny places (much like snakes do), and they'd go into the sun room and then cook themselves to death.
Oh, we also had a graveyard for the ones that fried themselves, and also for ones we found squashed on the road. Even my kids know where our frog graveyard was located. Most amazing jew boots |
Awww how sweet Alice! Awesome that you created a small house for them. Shame they... fried themselves... >.>
And BB, awesome awesome, you had tons of frog experiences I'll bet! So what does it take to raise one? Any advice you can give for any frog first time owner? From what I understand, most frogs do require bits of water to keep themselves hydrated but isn't it true that frogs have poric? skin that absorbs whatever it is out in the air around it? I know we could always go to WIKI, but ya know its more interesting to hear it from a GFFer perceptive. ![]() And... gee. Frogs you can lick and get all high? o.O' I don't know if that's disturbing or not. Reminds me of a PBF strip... What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |

We used to have a pond in my house in Malaysia. Toads and frogs would come by and visit all the time.
Once, I put on my shoes, only to feel something soft and squishy inside of my left shoe. I shook it, and lo! A horribly frightened frog dropped out and hopped away. Another time, I found a dead frog lying spread out on the ground. I decided to throw the frog over our 12-foot compound wall. What I wasn't expecting was the amount of rigor mortis that had set in, so it spun around like a frisbee as it sailed over the wall... What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I forgot to mention that in March/April we get these TINY TINY little frogs we call "spring peepers." (Maybe it's the same kind you see near your house, Philia.) You can hear them singing if you step outside, and they're so cute! They're about the size of your pinky fingernail. Some are half that size. We used to catch like 100 of them and have little frog races with them and then set them free beside the pond we used to have in our woods.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Back in Ohio we used to have these toads that live in the old barbecue in the back yard, or somewhere in the backyard. They also liked to lay eggs in pools around the neighborhood. They would always come up on the patio and eat the bugs that were attracted to the back porch light along with the spring peepers and spiders. Needless to say that got really fat because of this. I used to play with them...I also found out they really like having their heads petted. It was cute. I was also the only one they never peed on when I picked them up, so that was a plus.
I also tried to raise some tadpoles (of the toads or the peepers I forget. But given the size, I'd say peepers.) that I got of a friend. I don't know if it was the chlorine from the pool that my friend fished them out of mixed with the well water or what, but they never survived to gain legs. They started to get the little nubs, then they died. That was disappointing to say the least. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Frogs are definitely cool. Its neat that some of them have the skin themselves (the slim or something) poisonous. I really think that mouse is pretty cute too.
![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
lol Philia you're quite the frog fan aren't you?
![]() Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
Those poison dart frogs are pretty vicious.
I've only ever had one experience with a frog over at Lake Mead in Nevada. Was approaching the lakeside when I saw a big ass thing sitting near the lake. Fucking thing basically hopped a good three or four yeards forward and was gone. It was so big and goofy looking I couldn't even mess with that frog for fun. Caught me off guard. =o I was speaking idiomatically. |
At least, no one licks them more than once. ![]() They're rather beautiful, and lose most if not all of their toxicity in captivity. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
I don't like frogs. They're ok, but I get freaked out when touching them.
I hope that didn't sound wrong. FELIPE NO |
![]() Frogs are so cool. They just sit there and relax all day. ![]() For example. ![]() What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]()
