Persona 3 Arranged Album announced

Has this news been posted before?

Well, just yesterday I was browsing to Atlus official site when looking for persona 3 related stuff. Guess what, they announce to release a persona arranged album sometime in this year. This is very good news indeed, I personally think Persona III OST is very enjoyable, and it made me knowing the wonderfulness Shoji Meguro's compositions. I now list him as one of my favorite VGM composer.

Tracklist:
Burn My Dread - Full Version
Poem for Everyone's Soul
When the Moon's Reaching out the stars
Want To Be Close
Burn My Dread -Last Battle-
Changing Seasons
Deep Breath Deep Breath
Unavoidable Battle
Mass Destruction
Your Memory

Well, I'm quite excited for this album, especially because it will include Burn My Dread in full version. I think that song is very catchy and perfect, regardless it only lasts about 1 minutes long.

For info (J)

Jam it back in, in the dark.

ahem, this is not update of the arranged album but it's persona 3-related, I thought the fans should know about this.

rpgmm has updated his blog with a new drama cd album, the title is Persona 3 Drama CD Vol.1 -Daylight- (FCCT-0050). I havent downloaded it yet, but you might want to give it listen. Perhaps there are some music composed by Meguro used in the album as well.

cubed probably knows this already, but Persona 3 arranged album is available to download at rpgmm.

my comment?
I hardly could tell. Somehow I feel mixed when listening the album, I mean, there is nothing new here, this is just an arranged version of the persona 3 ost which I consider a perfect OST.

The Burn My Dread full version is quite unexpected, it has one new theme before rendering again into the main theme with new lyric. Quite good, but again, I think the original, the shorter version is perfect, and an arrangement is almost unnecessary.

for the rest of the tracks... I have yet to listen the whole album. Oh well, waiting for your comment, Shoji Meguro fans!

I was speaking idiomatically.

I have listened all the tracks, and I guess I will rate this album 3,75/5 for the arrangement, though most of them dont offer something really new.

Deep Breath Deep Breath is so far the most distinguished tracks for me, the arrangement really suits my style, it's R&B arrangement with some almost nonsensical unique lyric to retain the rhyme of the beat.

全ての人の魂の戦い (Subete no Hito no Tamashii no Tatakai) is quite enjoyable too, the arrangement is more powerful then the original in the OST. The vocal tracks dont really offer something new, and I think the original sound much better. The arrangements here, using a lot of synth and distorted sound (may) actually messed the beauty of the songs themselves.

In conclusion, this album is good, but not really special. But this is Shoji Meguro, he offers something to the listener with his unique use of rock-groovy-jazzy style.

3.75/5

EDIT: btw, what is the bonus given that come with the preorder?

I think it's a clear cd case instead of a conventional black one. The same goes with FES OST, I think. It's no big deal, but clear cd case are more classy. :P

Woah I got my copy this morning... That was FAST O_o

Anyway, my favorite track is still 全ての人の魂の戦い.

I like the distorted sound, reminds me of antique stuffs. I agree the new vocal part wasn't needed, but I think it gives a new way to appreciate the beautiful track. The guitar sounds more clearer in this version too.

And for Burn My Dread Long Version, well... I didn't like it at first from the original, but the long version is better. Haha, all the opposite.

And the bonus is a transparent plastic which adds new artwork when combined with the regular case. I'll post pictures later. Now I'm hungry.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I've only listened to three songs and I'm quite amazed by the variety in the song genres. Poem for Everyone's Soul is exquisite. I did not expect that at all. Now it has me itching to hear the OST.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

havent you listened to the OST? just like I said, the arranged album is good, but the OST? I think it's perfect =D

and, has anyone seen the trailer of persona 3 fes? It seems more new music(s) to come in the fes version (considering there are additional 30 hours of gameplay).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

yes and it's really just a continuation of the Persona 3 OST. It's nothing really spectacular in my opinion. You should give it a try though. I think #gamemp3s released it last week.

the Fes OST is good, as good as the original. I love the new arrangement of Burn my Dread, how I wish a longer version is available. I think all the tracks are nice. I enjoy this as much as I listen the P3 OST. I recommend everyone to give it a listen.

Now, I must hunt other Meguro's discography. I think this guy is one of the hottest composer in 2007.
