2 house Wireless?
I have to confess I’ve been putting this off since I predict it’s going to be quiet the headache... but I know it will be easier if I ask around for advice and what better place to do it then here.
To cut a long story short with little past experience I need to set up one internet connection (preferably also with wireless) across 2 buildings. They currently have this which they was told by PC World would cover the 40 metre Distance... they obviously forgot to account for walls knocking down the distance >.>. The connection is used by 1 PC always connected by Ethernet, 2 laptops only sometimes connected 1 of which is used as the admin PC and the rest accessing by wireless (at most 4 computers use the connection at once). Personally I think the connection needs some kind of signal booster kit, but I don't have the past knowledge to know for sure, does something just need to be added to the existing connection or do I have to pretty much start over to set this thing up? Thanks in advance ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark.

wow I take it no-one has really tried this then? In that case would it be better to connect some access point in the 2nd house to the original modem then have a wire going from one house to the other?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I wouldn't want to make a habit of double posting, but it makes more sense to me then making a whole new thread for this imo. Someone hooked me up with this as a solution to the problem Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander and as much as they had good intentions I can't remember the last time I've used such an annoying piece of hardware!
Searching on the net for more information hasn't exactly aided my confidence in it's quality either link
I'm not sure if I can fix this or if anyone here will know if I'm completely wasting my time on this thing, but I just thought I'd share as a heads up for anyone else trying something similar ![]() I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
