Mahou Shoujou Ai 2 'transformation' Full Arrange Album - pathetic battle arrange 'distortion of the space' - 3 marks.

I think it's a cool song, at least IMO, I found it quite appealing to listen to.

Atelier Iris ETERNAL MANA 2 Original Soundtrack - Continent Which Rides The Wind - 2points

I quite like it.

1 more point... to G5 Project - Transient Blue

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Nomination times!

Artist: Bjorn Lynne
Album Title: The Gods Awaken
Track Title: Jooli's Song
Track Number: 3
Year: 2001
Sources: http://www.lynnemusic.com/ & http://www.artistlaunch.com/cdmain_2cat.asp?cdid=1040

Notes: Ah, Bjorn Lynne, a name we haven't seen since the Spin Jam track took gold in Week 15. This nomination is from one of Lynne's numerous indie albums. His ArtistLaunch page makes available several full-length tracks for browsing, which is how I acquired this piece. I intend to purchase the entire album soon (among several other Lynne albums) and will promptly share the goodness with everyone who wishes a copy.

I was speaking idiomatically.

2pt: G5 Project - Transient Blue (7.5)
The right combination of the guitar with background music is something that I'm very satisfied by. The jazzy style of the main melody combined with a continuously developing song makes this a huge plus. Decent song.

2pt: Atelier Iris ETERNAL MANA 2 Original Soundtrack - Continent Which Rides The Wind (7)
The instruments really combine sucessfully to create a decent song. I think the strong part is really the guitar strungs in the background. Ultimately, what makes this song lack elite status is the fact that I feel that the instruments could have even a tad bit more.

2pt: Conker Live and Reloaded Original Soundtrack - The Ditch (7)
I think where the music is extremely strong is in the buildup of the music. I do like the background and the gothic elements to it.

Mahou Shoujou Ai 2 'transformation' Full Arrange Album - pathetic battle arrange 'distortion of the space' (6.5)
This is an ok song, but doesn't really stand out to me in any way.

OutRun 20th Anniversary Box - Speed King (6)
I know, I'm really tired today. But this song doesn't really cut it for me either, because the melody doesn't sound interesting.

Bubble Symphony - Sorcerer Drunk (Arrange Version) (6)
This song really lives up to it's title: Sorcerer Drunk. Unfortunately, listening to a Sorcerer Drunk really isn't what I really want to listen to right now.

Blue Almanac - Planet Radan (5.5)
I think this song really isn't catchy enough. I understand that the instrumentations may somewhat sound a bit interesting, but this isn't really enough for me to consider a vote.

Knytt (Game Rip) - Tutorial Music (5.5)
Sorry, I'm definitely not into jazz today and a new age style with this type of combination of instruments. I know I'm tired and all, but I couldn't continue listening to this song before getting somewhat bored.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

This was a pretty good week. I wasn't put off by any of the nominations.

3 Points: Mahou Shoujou Ai 2 'transformation' Full Arrange Album - pathetic battle arrange 'distortion of the space'
2 Points: Bubble Symphony - Sorcerer Drunk (Arrange Version)
1 Point: Atelier Iris ETERNAL MANA 2 Original Soundtrack - Continent Which Rides The Wind

The first is my own nomination and the other two were far and away the strongest remaining tracks for me.

Atelier Iris ETERNAL MANA 2 Original Soundtrack - Continent Which Rides The Wind Atelier this and atelier that; the series seems to be very popular these days. I wasn't a fan of the early BSC and SoTW Atelier songs, but these recent ones have been a lot more tuneful and fun--this tune is a case in point. Nice ethnic instruments, a good melody, and a nice interlude (though the music does sound more than a little like Shimomura at times). As with the last atelier track, this is only a single-looper, which is really a shame.

Blue Almanac - Planet Radan A vaguely Kikuta-ish sound, this; it's pretty good once the music finds its footing, though I could really do without the distortion effects in some places.

Bubble Symphony - Sorcerer Drunk (Arrange Version) Somebody was drunk here, though I don't think it was the sorcerer. Aside from some silly vocal effects at the beginning, this piece is pure gene-rock.

Conker Live and Reloaded Original Soundtrack - The Ditch I always expect something silly from Conker, perhaps because of "Sloprano." This track is anything but--it's a Media-Ventures-style action track, complete with male choir, string hits, and synth effects. Gene-orch, if you will.

G5 Project - Transient Blue I've never really been comfortable with the rationale that gets these tracks into the contest, to be perfectly honest. It doesn't help that jazzy lounge music just isn't my thing.

Knytt (Game Rip) - Tutorial Music My guess is that the composer wanted players to focus on the tutorial rather than the music; as a result, he considerately wrote two minutes of nothing but dull loops to facilitate their experience.

Mahou Shoujou Ai 2 'transformation' Full Arrange Album - pathetic battle arrange 'distortion of the space' I like the piano in this piece quite a bit; it helps add the melody and depth missing from a lot of similar techno-inclined tracks. There are fairly long stretches that are just dull loopery, but the good sections more than make up for this.

OutRun 20th Anniversary Box - Speed King I don't even know what OutRun is, and yet it's 20 years old? Man. This sounds very much like something from the Dark Age of Mega Man (MMX-present), with a fairly lax pace and weak melody.

An okay week, but lots of tracks that didn't really distinguish themselves.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Wow, that was a close finish. AI Eternal Mana had a heck of a surge at the end.

I'll take a hard-fought victory, though. It's more satisfying to earn a win when the runners-up were real threats. And the runners-up were my favorites of the week, too. Doesn't get better than that!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Posted at STC, but now here for the record: AIEM could've won very easily, but I "docked" it a point for being too familiar (I gave 3 to Sorceror). In hindsight, I should have, but meh...That's the way the points spread.

Oh snap, thanks for the 12 points, guys. That's 12 points higher than I was expecting. I didn't even vote, that would've been 15 points max.

I liked The Ditch quite a bit, so that's a result. And I didn't like any of the songs that placed because I'm a punk.
