Yeah, i'm looking forward to this one big time. Huge fan of Afterburner from back in the day. The latest and greatest was Crimson Skies on the Xbox for me. I played it more then Halo. It's hard to find people to play. I don't know about holding the Wii-mote like a plane though. Thats seems kinda weird..i'd rather hold the wii-mote sideways and use it like excite truck style. If they make you use the nunchuck to control the jets, I will be very dissapointed.
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
I hope those screens really are from the Wii version, so I can laugh. They look bad enough even for PS2. =x Codemasters eh? They should drop everything and do a new Man Overboard game. Even if they're holding their lunch!

seems like for all companies Wii=cheap out on graphics, even though it is a more powerful system than an XBOX and should be able to produce at least comparable graphics.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Seriously... it's getting to be slightly depressing, even though I'm really pumped for the potential of the system.

I love how IGN's "interviews" are nothing more than pre-scripted advertisements. I mean come on, who honestly gives an answer like "See the flight, feel the fight! Heatseeker is larger-than-life, in-your-face, pyromaniac rollercoaster that brings explosive arcade close-quarters missile combat to your console."?
As far as the game goes...uhh, sure looks like they've taken the Ace Combat 3 engine to new heights. It sounds like a free flight version of Afterburner, and not really in a good way. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
That's one thing I fear about Wii: that developers will get lazy with graphics just cos they are able to get away with it somewhat with excuses. The DS has been doing alright seeing as it bases most of its titles from the 2D mould which always looks pretty good. But for a console, where the majority of titles are expected to show full 3D, being slack just ain't gonna cut it. I've said it many times already that this level of graphics (2005 onwards) is good enough ie. big, bold, crisp, clear, colourful etc. for many games outside of some mega PC hits. But to go backwards is a crime.
How ya doing, buddy? |
Screw Blazing Angels, I'm getting this for my everyday wiimote-flying-fun instead.
So many genres that I normally care zero for, become potential tryouts, just because of the Wii? But there's still 20 days of reading how much fun others are having, till December 8th cares to come around ![]() How ya doing, buddy? |
I agree. The system obviously has the potential to make games that , while not quite as high quality in the graphics dept. as the 360, should be in the ballpark because it is not having to broadcast the images in HD.
But all I have seen so far, with the exception of Red Steel, Metroid, and Mario Galaxy, are games that are subpar for even GameCube and PS2 and may even be in the realm of N64 Graphics. I mean sure the focus is on gameplay, but this does not give the developers the right to de-evolve in the other areas. Mark my words, if this continues, the general public will be put off by the system and it will fail. Developers need to make it a next gen system in EVERY aspect. New and innovative gameplay, better graphics, and better sound. Fall short in any of those 3 areas consistently and you will have a global flop of a system. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
So.. judging from -screenshots- of a PS2 port 10 people will buy, Wii could just be a global flop. How many more systems does the DS have to sell for people to stop thinking technical graphics mean anything to the general public?
Guy on forum = hmmm that texture is a bit mucky Normal person = this game has planes Most amazing jew boots |
no judging from screenshots of every game except 3. If the gameplay is anything like the graphics (half baked, which I assume it will be) the game will fail. If the developer thinks they can put little in and get a lot back they are wrong. The general public is not that dumb. And the ones that are will buy the more expensive system and get just as crappy games with better graphics.
Yes, I am extremely excited about the Wii and its revolutionary gameplay possiblities, but if all the games are 2nd hand ports, in which the development team makes a crappy non-upgraded port of an already crappy PS2 game, why would people bother forking over money for it. Revolutionary controller or not, half baked games that are under developed WILL NOT sell the Wii. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
It seems Heatseeker is soaring on to the PSP aswell and oddly looks identical to the Wii version. I suppose this is proof that the Wii's and PSP's hardware are roughly equal. Surely this is a service to Nintendo fans that want last-gen hardware in their next-gen console while Nintendo proudly delivers. "We do that." Just think in 6 years from now Nintendo will unveil their new console. "It can display 143 polygons on the screen. At the same time. Fans respond: ZOMG!

Apparently those are the PS2 screens, but this one is for the Wii:

In the meanwhile, <3 to lukage for digging up that screen! I'm looking forward to seeing more from the actual Wii version. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Interview said they are testing different control methods. It would be cool if you can use the remote as a flight stick.

Back on topic; if the Wii version looks like this, it's alright with me. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Why does the plane look like it's melting, though? It's so very strange.
How ya doing, buddy?
Killing is a dangerous job, after all. I have to make it pay.

Trailers are up =D
Impact Cam Trailer. Overview Trailer. Apparently there's some sort of promotion DVD out or something. The game is looking ok, and it still looks like I'll be buying it. But scripted explosions? Come on, how hard can it be to have an object hit another object at a given point, and let physics blow the pieces to hell from there? This is 2007. Calling Ace Combat fans. How does this game compare in general? What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
You're asking for the opinion of Ace Combat fans in another flight game?
You know their answer. Most amazing jew boots ![]() |
