Killing Quicktime
Okay, a bit rash title, but fitting none the less...
Some time ago, I installed some program which should work instead of Quicktime. Instead, it completely smashed quicktime. Oh well, I thought. But now I want to play Second Life, and it uses quicktime for some purpose. My question is: How can I remove all trace of Quicktime from my computer, so I can install it again? 'Remove Quicktime' from the Start menu doesn't work or anything. And when I say all trace, I mean plugins, files, reg keys... the lot. Any tips? Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Just try to install Quicktime Alternative on top of it.
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
It didn't help. I'm still not able to neither see quicktime files or play Second Life.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
Okay, we could widen this. Anyone know a program which is capable of uninstalling faulty programs? There's some shell32.dll thing which has an error, and this means I can't uninstall Quictime.
Tips please. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() |
If it's a shell32.dll problem it sounds to me as though your troubles run deeper than just QuickTime. You can always try deleting the QT program folder and manually excising the registry entries, but that's not really the recommended method and will likely still leave trace elements of QT behind.
I was speaking idiomatically. It is not my custom to go where I am not invited. |
