DDR Universe

At this poine, I'm somewhat surprised no one is talking about DDR Universe, what with SuperNOVA being the big hit for AC and CS DDR fans, and with Ultramix 4 coming out in 2 weeks.

Anyway, so far there are 11 confirmed songs, well, maybe not confirmed. They were announced on several recent episodes of Orange Lounge Radio, which I never caught. I don't remember the names of the songs, but I'm sure you can check all the headlines on Bemanistyle for the names.

And this is the boxart:

Not too shabby, better than a couple previous boxarts, though I think SuperNOVA and Ultramix 4 come pretty close... well, Ultramix 4, anyway, the white on SuperNOVA wasn't really good.

Anyway, the game has been pushed back from this year to sometime either at the beginning of 2007 or early Spring of 2007, which is too much a wait, but whatever.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Probably because we're all iffy about the name. That's why we don't talk about it.

Either way, hopefully by then, I'd have a 360 so I could get this game. And ya think they're gonna make the pads wireless also?

I read somewhere that they weren't concerned about wireless pads right off the bat. But I'm sure not too long after the game comes out, they'll have some made. After all, I'm sure there are some people that have 3 friends who wanna play DDR on the 360 at one time.

(yeah, right)

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Universe? I have no idea where DDR is going anymore. I thought Ultramix was the series on the XBox, but now what is this? These were easier to keep track of when they somewhat mirrored the arcade games.

How ya doing, buddy?

It's a bit old on Bemanistyle, but I've been busy with SuperNOVA updates, so I couldn't get around to it.

For those of you worried about achievements in Universe, worry no more, or... worry still, because a couple of them suck. Anyway, the list can be found here: http://www.achieve360points.com/game/ddruniverse/

And from that list, we can confirm several songs that weren't on the Orange Lounge Radio updates.

Bongo!
Cachaca
Drivin'
Healing Vision (Gridlok Remix)
Koibito
Love Me Do (The Acolyte's Mix)
Maximizer
My Only Shining Star
Paranoia Evolution
(This one I'm not too sure about. It's listed as an achievement name, might be on there, though)
Return of the Toe Jam
Stop Violence (BLT Reproduction)
Think Ya Better D
Tir na n'Og
(WTF??)
Xenon

Aight, first off, Cachaca was not a good song in SuperNOVA, even for a Bemani Crossover. Doesn't need a revival. Same goes for Think Ya Better D. Of course, that song shoulda been put to rest a long time ago. I didn't need it in MAX2 US or Ultramix 1, I don't need it now. And Konami, seriously, no Healing Vision mix, not even the original, can top Healing-D-Vision.

At least they're making up for these with Drivin', Maximizer, My Only Shining Star, and Xenon.

Anyway, for release dates:

Bundle: $79.99 - February 28
Game Only: $49.99 - March 28

Before I bitch about the month split, I must say, GameStop had two different prices for the game only, but the $59.99 one was set for January 1st, and as we all know, it didn't come out, so that leaves us with the $50 March release.

But now, the bitching. Konami, what are you hoping to gain from this?? Did you do this with DDRMAX when it first came out?? Or Ultramix?? Honestly, I don't know what you're thinking. Of course, I don't work for Konami, so I never know what they're thinking. Perhaps it so that people will be sure to have the pad when they get the game, and give Konami a chance to make extra pads before the game comes out alone.

Ah, well. We'll see next month.

I was speaking idiomatically.

$80? Geebs, I think I can wait. Well..I need a 360 first anyway. <_<

I don't get why they have some new (probably crappy) remix of Healing Vision when Healing-D-Vision exists now. I'm expecting FAXX to be a boss song though, I don't think they are gonna stick all of NOVA's boss songs into this game..at least not yet anyway, since they will probably be in some future songpacks.

Don't count on SuperNOVA's boss songs being in this one. After all, they still have Paranoia Survivor and Respect to use. However, you may be right. SN Boss songs may be in songpacks, but I don't think it's very likely, because then it would defeat the purpose of an Ultramix 5 or Universe 2, or, whatever they call the sequel next year.

I would've figured they skipped Paranoia Survivor when Ultramix 4 went right to Paranoia Survivor MAX. XD But i'm thinkin it'll be somewhere on the Xbox soon, i'm thinkin a random hard song like how Sakura was in Extreme 2 in somethin like Ultramix 4. ;\

I think Respect will make it into SuperNOVA 2 or whatever before it reaches the Xbox; I am betting that it'll probably be in SuperNOVA JP first though maybe..

It won't be on SuperNOVA JP. Konami refuses to revive songs from older mixes these days (CS-wise), and Respect was on Party Collection. It's been that way since Ultramix 2. Of course, it didn't start for us on PS2 until SuperNOVA US, because Extreme 2 had a few songs from Konamix.

I could've sworn that Supernova arcades supported memory card compatibilites with the PS2 but the ones in my arcade didn't have a slot for it! Did Konami just decided not to do that anymore because of financial issues or what?

Not really canned, they just couldn't find a way to keep a standard that never really had..a..standard...

What I mean is, they couldn't find a medium between american edit data and japanese edit data that they could agree on >_>

Anyway, to get back to the game this thread is made for:

Konami has announced several new songs confirmed for Universe, and frankly, I'm very, VERY, happy with the last one on this list.

* Everytime we touch – Cascada
* Don't Play Nice – Verbalicious
* Feels Just Like it Should – Jamiroquai (with video)
* Guilt is a Useless Emotion (Mac Quayle Mix) – New Order
* Love's On our Side – Frank Popp Ensemble
* Slow (Chemical Bros. Remix) – Kylie Minogue
* Rapper's Delight – Sugarhill Gang
* Run it! -- Chris Brown
* Saturday Night – Ozomalti
* Tsugaru (Or If Is Mix) – Or-If-Is
* Hot Limit – John Desire (Not the same cut as DDR 5th mix)
* Sky High – DJ Miko
* Twist – Goldfrapp
* WWW.BLONDEGIRL – Jenny Rom
* GO! ~Mahalo Mix~ -- DM Ashura
* September '99 (Phats & Small Remix) - Earth, Wind, & Fire
* Wraith - Monolithic
* Slam - Pendulum

I like how they're already re-using GO! Mahalo Mix 3 months after its debut in Ultramix 4. Is that normal??

Also, Konami, COME ON!!! Why cut HOT LIMIT down??? That is such an awesome song, it deserves to be a full version on the game. That's like the cuts they made on Seduction Vocal they made to fit it into DDR SuperNOVA.

Well, anyway, the release dates are still the same, yada yada yada. Oh, and they're releasing a Music Sampler for this game as well. Supposed to include a full version of My Only Shining Star, which equals awesomeness.

Uh, wait a sec... isn't Rapper's Delight a Pump song??

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Aw... People really hate long versions, don't they. They're probably gonna use the Hot Limit mix they used in DanceManiaX append J-Paradise.

Wait, they already have a cut version of it?? Damn, I need to find the DanceManiaX albums, apparently, because there are probably DDR-type songs that aren't on DDR that I need to listen to.

I still can't get over Pendulum's "Slam" being in the game. That is some sick, serious, hardcore D&B right there. It's gotta be insanely difficult to cut that song down, because it all fits so well.

Hi-diddely-dee, it's update time for me. (My little cousin was watching Pinnochio yesterday when I went visit my grandmother, so don't ask.)

Anyway, seriously, another update.

justoneuncle found 22 more songs for DDR Universe from the videos Gamespot has:

All Up In My Face - DJ Accucrack
Beyond Here and Now (Intensified) - Neuropa
Dancefloor Killer - ???
Heart with a View (Echo !mage Remix) - The Echoing Green
Horsemen of the Invisible - Secret Chiefs 3
Ignition - Audio Magnetics
Indian Summer - ???
Less 'Yap Yap' - Temporary Lovers
Put Your Faith In Me (Steve Portier Mix) - Uzi-Lay
Roughneck - Skylab 2000
Somebody to Love - Boogie Pimps
Test Room - Plus Tech Squeeze Box
Youngmen Blues - Round Table

And the following are from past DDR games. The four Broadjam winners from UM4 are also here:

Cosmic Hammer
Grandolin
Go!
Infinite Prayer (Festival/EXTREME 2 stepcharts)
Insertion
Kagerow
rain of sorrow
Senses
There's a Rhythm

Wow, nice update of songs. Feb. 27/28 needs to come faster now. I'm tired of waiting.

Oh, apparently, they're using the same interface shown in the E3 demo or whatnot.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I gotta agree with you on that one. Saturday Night Mix was good for UM1, but was not necessary for 4 revivals (Festival, all 3 DDR SuperNOVA versions: AC, CS US, CS JP). It lost its touch and should've been put to rest.

I don't know where they get these soft club hits, such as Saturday (Morjac Radio Mix), but I end up liking those a hell of a lot. (I wonder if there's a full version for that song btw). Hopefully, a few like that will be in Universe, since I don't really know too many of these songs.

Beyond Here and Now (Intensified) - Neuropa

There's a Rhythm - Dig Bear
Tsugaru(OR-IF-IS Mix) - RevenG vs DE-SIRE

Vanity Angel - Fixx
We Are Connected(Overdrive Mix)- Jondi&Spesh
What Have Her - Chris Fortier

Now, again, it's the default, meaning, not with unlocks. There are at THE LEAST!!!!, 10 songs that I can think of that were leaked as achievement unlocks a couple months ago, one of them being Drivin'.

So yeah, we're looking at a heavy songlist for the first next-gen DDR game.

Wow, not even necessarily the first day out, and they're already releasing content online.

Quote:
Thanks to weazl, Major Nelson's blog of all places has information on the first pieces of online content for DDR Universe. Since the Xbox Live on the 360 is a lot more flexible than the original, you can now pay for songs individually. Each song is worth 100 Points or $1.25:

Broken My Heart (Cusimo & Co. Starlite Remix) by NAOKI Feat. PAULA TERRY
Me and My Friends by THE DANDY WARHOLS
Audiophilosophy by Neverakka
AM-3P by KTz
ECSTASY by d-complex
ON THE JAZZ (Smooth House Mix) by Jonny Dynamite!
Beside You by Intuition
White Hot by R.A.S.T
CANDY *STAR* by Luv UNLIMITED
KISS ME ALL NIGHT LONG by NAOKI J-STYLE feat. MIU

The first five songs listed is also Ultramix SP16. And there is also a "megapack" option to download all 10 songs at once for 800 Points or $10. AND, since SP16 content is in there, AM-3P and Ecstasy should contain their new graphics and Challenge charts.
Also, there is supposedly a DDR Universe Theme for the 360 at 150 M.Pts, and a Picture Pack at 100 M.Pts., well, at least I believe the PP is 100 points.

Also, ain't it a coincidence. We just got Candy on UM3 in 2005, and KMANL just 3 months ago on UM4. Ah, well, they were 2 good songs, so I'll play em again.
