GFF Firefox Extensions?
I was just musing and came with a few ideas:
A GFF Extension for Firefox, which could/would include one or more of the following: - Login to GFF Remotely upon starting Firefox (This is important for some of the other features), using a one-time entry of your user name/password. - Checks on the status of the forums, to let you know right away about downtime (This is a low priority feature, as in just throwing it out there), because let's face it, its simply a matter of entering the forum URL into the address bar, or clicking on the boomark). - RSS Feeder to a specified thread, which would be selected either by a menu option ("Paste the URL of the thread you wish to subscribe to"), which would then post updates on the Toolbar (Like the built-in RSS feeder does currently) for that specific thread. A second option would be to link the "Subscribe" option to the RSS reader from within GFF. As for the various RSS readers available, I've only had experience with the default version so I don't know how the other ones might be affected or work differently. - On Youtube, you could right-click and have a context menu option, something along the lines of "Add to GFF Youtube Tag", and then once you start making a post or journal entry, a right click would bring up "Insert Youtube Link" in the same context menu, which would add the appropriate [youtube] [ /youtube] tags and paste it into the post or chocojournal entry/comment. - ![]() - Chocochat Link, which links you directly to #gfchat via either a selected IRC client, or the javascript Chocochat (A little pop-down menu in an options menu with something like "Choose from the following IRC clients" and then a Browse button to add an IRC client not auto-detected. - Search GFF from the address bar, and just to distinguish between a normal search, you add gff or GFF to the beginning and then write what you are searching for, Example: Normal Address Bar: http://www.google.com GFF Search: GFF ff7 ost - Private Message indicator via a small popup or blinking icon (Similar to the Forecast Fox pop-up), or even just a small text on the bottom toolbar [1 New PM @ xx:xxpm]. - For the Werewolf Game, a special feed of the current status of the game, to which the thread master could update on a periodic basis, or it would be scrobbed from the thread's first post? I'm not sure on the technical details for that one. ---- Again, these are just some ideas. What do you think? Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]()

This sounds like a really good idea. I'm afraid that I don't have the skills to help make it happen. But perhaps my added interest can held add some sense of interest in this idea for thoes who could help make it happen to become interested.
Best of luck. I'll be keeping my eye on this for some hopefully exciting results. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
