Thank You For Smoking
Trailer
Film Review @ IGN Filmforce I've been intruiged and very interested by this movie ever since I saw the trailer a while back. It's about Nick Naylor, who is a lobbyist for cigarette company Big Tabacco, putting the spin on the hazards of smoking. It has an great cast, with Aaron Eckhart as Nick Naylor, Cameron Bright as his son, Katie Holmes, Adam Brody, Robert Duvall, William H Macy, JK Simmons, Rob Lowe and Sam Elliot as the Marlboro Man. It's directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan (director of Ghostbusters, etc...you know the rest). The movie came out on US screens last friday, and the problem is that I don't think it will be released here in Australia. Has anyone seen it? Opinions, anyone? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I was going to make this thread just now!
This looks like a terrific sort of mockumentary flick, and the reviews I've seen have been pretty good. It has a great cast (I love JK Simmons) and the premise is fantastic. I can't wait to go see it. I think it's playing at the Loew's near here. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
I heard a review of this film on NPR the other day. It really piqued my interest. I'd love to see it.
It was based off a book about some dude who was actually a lobbyist FOR the cigarette industry. If anything, it should be really amusing. And I really like these sorts of films, not the gratuitous crap you see in the threatres these days. I plan to see this one, though. IF THEY BOTHER PLAYING IT. ;_; This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Yeah, I work at a art house release theater (We get normal movies, too, but we get the weird ones as well.) so I'll definately be able to see this one.
Looks funny as all hell. I can't wait to see it. Most amazing jew boots |
I managed to be in an early release city of this beauty when it dropped, and man oh man, does it ever live up to the hype. Early runner for best film.
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() John Mayer just asked me, personally, through an assistant, to sing backup on his new CD. |
I saw a commercial for it during tonight's 24. Not many movie commercials grab my attention, but this did, which pretty much assures that I'll be watching it in the near future.
Kinda reminds me of "I Heart Huckabees" for some reason. This is just from the commercial itself, I don't know anything about the story except what I gathered from the commercial. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
If it's even vaguely faithful to the book this should be pretty damn good. Though really I can't think of much they'd really have to change.
FELIPE NO
Lady, I was gonna cut you some slack, cause you're a major mythological figure but now you've just gone nuts!
