[Album] Yoshi's Island 2 (Nintendo DS Game Rip)

So I'm wondering what you guys think of the Yoshi's Island 2 soundtrack. It was composed by Yutaka Minobe of "Skies of Arcadia" fame. That was one of my favorite Dreamcast era soundtracks so it was a bit of a surprise when I saw this name listed as the games composer.

This is the most polarizing Mario soundtrack that I've seen. I know some people that hate the game simply because of its music, some people that love the game bit hate the music, some people that absolutely adore the music. My personal opinion is that it can't touch Koji Kondo's work on Yoshi's Island 1 with a ten foot pole. However, on it's own it's a pretty good listen. My favorite tracks are "A Lullaby of Yoshi", "Windblown Wilderness", and "Islands of Peril".

However, the castle theme and the final boss theme are my least favorite and are actually incredibly dissapointing given that those were my favorite themes from the first YI game. What do you all think?

I'm only on the second world of the game, and haven't listened to this rip yet, but so far I hate the music. It's strange, because I liked Arcadia's soundtrack. I find the music here really bland, if just not subdued. Like when I go into a cave or fortress, the music is really lame; not like the awesome moody tunes composed by Kondo.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I haven't played the game, so maybe it's hard to imagine the music in agme I haven't played, but i tried to imagine the castle theme, for example, in of of Yoshi's Island's Castle level, and I really don't know how that could work.

I listenend to the whole rip, and I like the main theme and the title track in particular. I also think the second boss music is a good track, I can't imagine that as a boss battle music (like all the other boss battle tracks in this game) but besides that, I like the track.

Overall, it's not THAT bad, nothing outstanding either, but I would say it hardly fits into the game.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The music overall isn't that good. As it has been mentioned, the castle theme and boss themes are probably what sinks this soundtrack. Windblown Wilderness and the main theme are my favorite tracks in the whole game. The cave theme isn't too good either in comparison to YI:SMW2.

The music kind of grows on you but still there are some which are very horrible and can't stand. The most annoying thing about the game is the some of the sound effects that they added to the character actions. It literaly makes my ears bleed.

Overall, this score isn't that bad but could've been better. Music does grow on you but still one will mostlikely despise some of the music because its so horrible.
