Longest Run!!!!!

Ok, here we gonna talk 'bout our longest playing run, got it?

What to post:
-Longest stretch of playing the same game (How many hours (days)).

-Which game? (expecting alot of FFVII's)

-Why did you play for so long? (Nothing to do? Particularily engrossing game? No Fucking Save Points?)

-Were you wickedly sick afterwards? (Motion Sickness? Carpal Tunnel? Some sort of cancer?)

As a side to this thread:

What's the longest logged hours you've ever put into a game?
e.g.
-GTA Vice City 475 hours (Love beating up hookers)
-Marjora's Mask 536 hours (Damn Kafei's quest is hard)
-Shadow of Colossus 12 seconds (I blinked, did i miss it?)
-Final Fantasy 10 670 949 hours (Man, Blitzball is hella fun)

Ok, now some ground rules. You have to put substance in your post. If i were a mod, and i saw posts like:

Try to give some detail as to what it was like. Did you forget to eat? Was there a monumental ass groove on your couch? Was your girlfriend pissed off at you for skipping on your date? Do you have a girlfriend? SPILL!!!!

Heck give more than one event.

For me, my longest run is 23 straight hours on Zelda A Link to the Past. Me and a friend tried to beat it under 24 hours, and we were so close before we just collapsed. We like to set that goal for ourselves when starting new games, like Prince of Persia, Zelda, and Resident Evil. We're both itching to get our hands on Zelda Twilight Princess.

After 23 hours of staring at a screen, i must admit, i didn't feel quite sick, but i didn't feel like i'd been hit by a train or something. I couldn't stand properly, and slept for something like 14 hours, which is the longest i've ever slept that i can remember.

The second longest i've ever played in one sitting is with the same friend, when we started our quest into the Prince of Persia serise. We've since ditched the 24 hour goal, but we've vowed never to play those games unless the two of us are in the same room. It's pretty intense, packing as much PoP as we can into one night. I think the longest we went on Sands of Time was something like 15 hours. But we both had stuff up the next day, so we crashed after that. Didn't get sick from it or anything.

The longest i've ever put into a game was 120 hours on Final Fantasy X. In all honesty, i really like Blitzball.

As for Monumental Ass Grooves on my couch, you'd better believe there's a few.

Your Turn!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

For me, the longest run was 7-8 hour on Star Ocean 2 the second story the first time that I played it, the main reason was the story line and one boss that I couldn't beat so I begin to leven up some character.

Anothers games that I played for long time were AOE2 (Age of Empire 2) and Star Craft those game give me the sensation to play more and more just to finish the campain and see what going next.

The max hours that I ever put on a game a don't know, maybe by category RPG around 45 hours or more, fighting, role and other style of game I don't know because I never care of the time when I play those game.

Ugh, if I could remember....

My first one was Shenmue. I was sleeping over a friend's house and me, him, and another friend decided that from the 1/4 point of Shenmue, we should try to complete the game. I believe we got about 10 hours in. We did eventually beat it, but I passed out before I could see the ending, leaving me to play the game by my lonesome self.

Probably my next one was a 6-hour run with Grandia II. It was a boring night and I finally got somewhere good in the story. I really didn't want to put it down. I was forced to when my dad barged into my room and started yelling at the fact I was up at 3 in the morning playing video games. I ended up getting grounded for a week after that. <_<

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I've put 100+ hours in Matrimelee in MAME. I know at least one or two effective combo attacks with every character in the game, and I know how to combo supers, or use them effectively, for every character (minus Poochy, who has totally retarded supers). Mind you, I still can't score 100% hits with Chinnens level 3 super.

-Longest stretch of playing the same game (How many hours (days)).
Round about 15 hours. (Football Manager 2006, just one more game, I promise!)

-Were you wickedly sick afterwards? (Motion Sickness? Carpal Tunnel? Some sort of cancer?)
Nope, just very tired. Slept for a long time after that.

-Which game have you amassed the most hours in? (expecting alot of FFVII's)
FFVII ~ 400+ hours. Just enjoyed playing this game, tried to get everything maxed out as well.
Gran Turismo ~ 200+ hours. Dodge Viper GTS, I was extremely good with this car, and would do every race with it, I also tried to get enough money to buy a good chunk of the cars that I could, but unfortunately, I failed.
FFX ~ 100+ hours. Blitzball, the only thing worth doing in this game.

-Why did you play these for so long? (Nothing to do? Particularly engrossing game? No Fucking Save Points?)
These games really drew me into their environment and wouldn't let me leave, which is no bad thing.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Matrimelee huh? I'd like to face you so you can show these combos off to me. I always get a kick out of seeing Hikaru smack people so stylishly with that cane, or have Kanji fart on people. Yes, fart.

I'd have to say maybe 12 hours a day on Disgaea for 7 days straight on Disgaea ;_; so sad. I could have went more than 12 hours for a lot of those days, because it was actually Reading Week :O! So the sad part was I didn't get any reading done at all, and I just binged on Disgaea and kept binging on Stellar Graveyard 1. Then I lamented when I found out I was strong enough to do the bonus map (CoO) that had the 3X3 formation of Cyclopses instead. After mass transmigration and Winged Slayers, Laharl merely reached Level 1000 as well as shogun Renata.

Of course at that rate, Disgaea has well over 200 hours, but I hope to waste more of my life on Disgaea 2, since there is unbelievably more to do in that game.

-Longest stretch of playing the same game (How many hours (days)): 34 hours.

-Which game? Final Fantasy VI

-Why did you play for so long? It was when the game had first dropped, and a buddy of mine and myself just became engrossed in it. The story was so gripping that I couldn't put it down. I think I finally fell asleep at the controls.

-Were you wickedly sick afterwards? Nah, I just slept for about twelve hours, woke up, and turned it back on.

What's the longest logged hours you've ever put into a game? In a single game? Because if we're talking combined times of return to play again type stuff, then definitely FF VI or FF Tactics. Though Shining Force II and Dragon Force could both give it a run for its money, I'd wager. But if we're talking on a single file, then easily FF X. Blitzball suckered me in hard and I logged over 100+ hours on that alone. Though I also logged a ton of hours in ShadowRun for the Genesis and Suikoden V.

It tends to be games with either really good nation building aspects, where I can create and tend and micro-manage towns/cities/countries or exceptionally strong stories that really sucker me in. I absolutely love a game that can properly engross me, but they've become increasingly rare in the newer gen games; so much so I'm considering opting out of the next gen completely.

-Longest stretch of playing the same game (How many hours (days)).

Probably Rollercoaster Tycoon. I'd start in the morning and stop in the evening.

-Were you wickedly sick afterwards? (Motion Sickness? Carpal Tunnel? Some sort of cancer?)

No.

-Which game have you amassed the most hours in? (expecting alot of FFVII's)

World of Warcraft (7 days, 12 hours so far) - Still I never considered myself addicted to this game. It just doesn't have that special thing that makes me lose it - luckily.

Guild Wars (5 days) - No wonder I played this game so much when there has been 2 expansions already.

Morrowind - My previous journal was all about this game for a while. I used to have so much fun exploring the world, but after a while it became quite repetive - just like Oblivion became repetive.

Unreal Tournament - Me and my highschool friends played this game almost every night for a few weeks. This sure counts up, even when we're talking about short matches here. Then GFF started to play this game, and I played a lot against Face, Juan and Turbo.

-Why did you play these for so long? (Nothing to do? Particularly engrossing game? No Fucking Save Points?)

I get bored with games really easily, so I guess these game were fun while they lasted.

I must've put what, over 150 hours into Killer Instinct Gold? I have a 25 hit combo lodged into my brain which I can just remember as soon as KI's mentioned. Usually I can link 23 hits into an ultra, or something like that. I definitely enjoyed playing the Gold version more than I did playing the arcade one.

Another is Disgaea which is sitting at almost exactly 99 hours. I haven't finished it by all means, and in fact all I did was unlock majin and level it up a bit, before stopping because Disgaea 2 came out. I've defeated Baal but yet to defeat Uber Baal which I still want to do sometime. The great thing about the game is that I can pick it up whenever I like, and I already know what goals to complete.

Plus with transmigration, that eats the time away.

I've also spent probably 500+ hours on shooting games combind. Which isn't much compared to some, but it's my favorite genre and I'll continue to play it as long as I see fit. I'd say roughly around 100 hours on Pop'n Music too.

Oddly enough, just yesterday was about the longest I've ever played a game in a sitting. I spent about 12-13 hours on Final Fantasy VI, with a couple of minor breaks to eat and go grocery shopping. I just wanted to finish it and not have it consume my upcoming work week.

At one point in the early afternoon my roommate came home for a few minutes. He asked, "So what are your plans for the day?" And I gestured to the screen and said "This."

It's probably the most fun I've had playing a Final Fantasy and I was dying to hear Dancing Mad, the final boss music. Now that its spell is broken I doubt I'll play it again. Man I'm glad I finished it.

What to post:
-Longest stretch of playing the same game (How many hours (days)).
A measly 6 hours I reckon.

-Which game? (expecting alot of FFVII's)
Adventure Island Classic on NES last summer.

-Why did you play for so long? (Nothing to do? Particularily engrossing game? No Fucking Save Points?)
Yeah no save points, passwords. I used a cheat, I just wanted to finish the game see what the ending was like. Didn't manage to, I think even if I put it through emu it would be testing my patience. My Neighbour Totoro was showing on Film 4 that day and I missed that, seen it anyway, I took like a short break to grab some things to eat, make a cuppa tea.

-Were you wickedly sick afterwards? (Motion Sickness? Carpal Tunnel? Some sort of cancer?)
No, but I was drained. I thought I had given birth to a computer swivel chair.

As a side to this thread:

What's the longest logged hours you've ever put into a game?
Final Fantasy IX - 100 hours plus - Well I simply loved Tetramaster, I got all the cards in the game, powered my favourite ones as well. Did most of the side quests, <3 this game.

Final Fantasy VII - 100 hours plus. - First time I played it (not properly mind) I was obsessed with powering up, that was about 80 hours and then I finished it last summer without the guide which was 30 hours or so.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, the longest I put into a game was Final Fantasy XI, where I clocked in about 300 hours, but 230 of it came back in the month of November in 2003. Yes, I just wanted to make sure I made the most of my free trial. I believe I did.

Unreal Tournament and Starcraft probably have hundreds of hours from me also since I've had them for so long and would periodically play them.

As for another RPG, Dragon Warrior VII has stolen plenty of time from me as well, and it's still no where near done yet (still on first disc). And that's at around 80 hours.

I played Warcraft 2 for over 9 hours straight at one point. This was when I first got a PENTIUM COMPUTER =O. At that time, I was like, this is the pinnicle of GAMING!

For a longest straight playthrough on a console without me being there, but the game running continuously, I'd have to say it would be FFXII, which I am playing at this very moment, GAMBIT. I'm currently levelling up my guys, or actually, more correctly the computer is doing it for me, which is prbobably the most lamest thing ever in an RPG, but hell, I can run, go on GFF, watch animu, sleep, eat, go to work, go to school while the system is still running. So far it's reached about close to 24 hours.

Final Fantasy XII also takes as the longest game I have which I have a record of, sitting at 125 hours. I know there are other PC games that I've spent a hell load of time (Sim City 2000 comes to mind), but I never got a proper time reading on those.

How ya doing, buddy?

My longest session was eight hours for the first Metal Gear Solid. I was on summer vacation when I played, so I had lots of time. I don't remember feeling anything after I finished because I didn't sit too close to the screen or anything like that.

The first few games that come to mind that I played for over 100 hours are Final Fantasy VII since I didn't own too many games back then, Soul Calibur II, and Super Mario World.

Fricking Dragon Quest II for nes. :\ Such horrible gap of difficultly in the area surrounding the castle and INSIDE the castle. :\ God. I totally regret that game. POS! But yeah I spent like 24 hours straight (aside from bathroom breaks and eating) on a weekend. I remember trying to finish the f*cker up before I had to return it to the rental store. I never did. I just spent it by fricking leveling up. :\

And I only ended up sleeping a few hours or so... But still that was a complete waste of time. :\

Total Annihilation. I played this loads when the original came out, but I really got into it again during college, when me and a friend played it a lot at impromptu LAN parties. The longest game I ever played was as following: I got the 2000 units patch, the Mostly Harmless v.14 AI, I'd start at 8am in the morning on the laptop, carry it with me all day (during class, lunch, dinner) and play, and by the end of the day, the fucking skirmish still wasn't over. That clocks in at a minimum of 16 hours.

I probably put a lot of time into Total Annihilation, but for recent games Meteos probably takes the crown. Easily 100+ hours, I'm still playing this one. Most frantic puzzle game ever, and I simply could not put this one down. Every spare second was spent on another run of whatever that one planet with the red-orange humanoid guy was. (I had the Japanese version, so I have no idea what they're called.)

wow..... I'm pathetic.

36 hours.

-Which game? (expecting alot of FFVII's)
FFXII.

-Why did you play for so long? (Nothing to do? Particularily engrossing game? No Fucking Save Points?)
Well, I simply got addicted. The story picked up, and I was hooked to the point that I only ate after the play period, and I stayed up TALKING about the damn game with a friend for six hours after I stopped playing.

-Were you wickedly sick afterwards? (Motion Sickness? Carpal Tunnel? Some sort of cancer?)
No. I slept for 12 hours, and was still pretty tired after that (and had a pretty bad headache), but otherwise I was fine.

What's the longest logged hours you've ever put into a game?
I currently have about 70 days played on World of Warcraft.
I played FFXI for 5 days.
Outside of MMOs, I played Pokemon Ruby for over 300 hours.
Games I've logged over 100 hours on (not all on one file): Pokemon (several spanning the first three generations), FFVI, FFXII, FFT, Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, probably more .

Mine is Diablo 2. Probably my most addicting game I've ever played. I'm thinking around 20 hours. Basically what I did in that period was everything -- level up, get farther in the acts, do magic finding.

I doubt I will beat 20 hours unless it's Diablo 2 again.

-Longest stretch of playing the same game (How many hours (days)). Which game? Goid, I don't even know. Back when I rented SNES games from Blockbuster I'd play for hours straight to get the most out of my rental time, but that was so long ago I don't remember exact details. However, I do remember playing Super Mario RPG so long in one sitting that I developed a splitting headache. ;_;

Also, I was just looking at my PS2 memory card the other day and noticed that I played FFX for about 65 hours. I think that's my highest total hours spent on a game. Next would be FFVII, then FFIX, but I'm not done the latter, so..

Also, I'm currently playing FFXII, and I'm at about 35 hours. I'm not even halfway through the storyline, so I imagine I'll be clocking in at over FFX's time.

-Why did you play for so long? Leveling up, hunts (FFXII), side quests, just trying to beat the damn thing, etc.

-Were you wickedly sick afterwards? Got a bad headache once, and sometimes my bottom hurts from sitting in one place too long.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

52 hours straight camping the FBSS in the olden and original days of EverQuest 1 before there were any expansions. Those were fun days, when MMOs actually equated to fun versus all the bullshit that exist in them today.

There was one time I spent like 37'ish hours playing Resident Evil 1 non-stop when it first came out for the PS1. It was mainly runs to attempt the whole "Rocket Launcher in under 3 hours" bit so I was playing repeatedly to map out what I was going to do. Such were the days with no internet.

Then there was one time I spent 30 hours or so doing mostly Alterac Valley battleground in World of Warcraft. I got #2 in the Honor Ranks for that week, and started a drama explosion that nearly pissed off the entire server. That accomplishment (and a few others) paved the way for my quitting it for good too, with little else to prove.

Was any of these worth it? Absolutely. They aren't stories I'm gonna tell my grandchildren by any means, but it's something to look back on.

Did I get sick? Never did once. I have so much stamina it kills me sometimes, the only reason I ever sleep is because if I don't lectures will bore me into taking a nap. Boredom is about the only way I can sleep anymore.
