US soldier survives Iraq; gets hit by two cars
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/09/sol....ap/index.html
Wow, either the soldier was just really unlucky, being caught in a bad place at a bad time, or maybe he did something bad, and now karma's just now catching up. It's reasonable to see how this might of happened. It was 6:30 in the morning, which meant it'd be dark, and it was raining heavily too, which means it can be hard for pedestrians to see cars, and for drivers to see pedestrians (but you could probably argue that the drivers were driving too fast to be safe for the conditions, and the article doesn't explain if the soldier was crossing at the end of a block, or if he crossed into the street from the middle of a block (I really hate when people don't walk at crosswalks, even if I'm not in a car). In any case, I hope that the drivers (or at least the second one, who dragged him for half a mile) pay for his hospital bills. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
This reminds me of Final Destination.
Anyways, it really must suck to get hurt in such an ordinary way, after getting outta Iraq alive.. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
I can't even imagine how painful it would be to be dragged by a car for an extended period of time. I assume he was unconsious perhaps at the point of the initial impact of the first car. Regardless, I'm glad he's alright. It's pretty amazing that he survived.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

of all the things to happen to a solder in war it's when he gets back. Jesus it's amazing some people still have their license. and your right it is amazing that he survived after being hit by two cars like that.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
You know, statistically this guy probably had a better chance of getting hit by a car than being killed in Iraq. I don't really get why this is amazing.
I was speaking idiomatically. |

how was that statistic proven? is there a link or anything we can see? I'd really like to know how much research went into this.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
None. It's just my guess. That's why I said "probably."
I just think it's funny how everyone seems to think that if a soldier is sent to Iraq, it's a miracle if he makes it home alive. Most amazing jew boots |

war has that tendency to do that. and most wars were like that, you never knew if you were coming home or not. mind you there's no statistic to say one's more likely to die in war but to many it does seem to be that way. but you are right though, it does seem more likely he'd be hit by a car, especially with how the war is doing.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Ouch, definitely a unique way to be injured in a war zone. Goes to show you that the risk of getting hit increases as the weather gets worse. A good hint is don't cross the road early in the morning...
