Yet another GFX card Thread : The 7600 GT :
Hello again everyone.
I was wondering about the GeForce 7600 GT, what's a fair price for it ? I intend on getting it in about a month. My actual card budget is around 100 bucks but i can go to about $130.. Will i find one in that price range? Also , if i can't, do you think a 7600 GS (or even a 7300GS) would be a valid alternative considering my silly "budget" ? One more question (oh i love doing this) : I saw the number of Pixel Pipelines and shader lines on a 6800 Ultra , and found it to be much higher than the 7600 .. The clock rates are slightly less, does this imply in any way that it's a better card (being the top of its series) .. or is teh bigger chip number always better ? Guide my lost soul . And don't worry about compatability, i can handle that (probably =D ) Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
6800 ultra is probably better... google for benchmarks just to be safe though

According to this thread, the 7600GS is not as powerful as a 6800 Ultra where the 7600 GT is slightly more powerful. My recommendation = If you can't spend $200 on a X1950 Pro, don't bother because your last generation card is essentially just as good. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ~ Ready To Strike ~ :Currently Playing: League Of Legends(PC), Skyrim(PC), Golden Sun: Lost Age(GBA), Twilight Princess(Wii), Portal2(PC), Dragon Warrior II(NES), Metroid Prime 2: Echoes(GC)

I bought the BFG 7600GT around 6 months ago for $115AR. I believe the price dropped to $85AR (at Fry's Outpost.com), though I'm not sure now. I would probably pay around that price nowadays. Hope it helps.

Couldn't you just get a GS then OC it accordingly?
I was speaking idiomatically. |
first thing that came to my mind, Bigworm, but the memory is severely underclocked..
And its available here for around 180 Bucks.. Which is alot to ask for a card of its calibur.. How's the BFG version of it? What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
BFG's warranty looks awesome. XFX's double lifetime warranty is a crock of shit if you ever read its terms. Everything else has short warranties.
If I recall BFG also come overclocked by default, and are still covered by warranty despite that. How ya doing, buddy? |
I really, REALLY doubt that my Rad 9200 is anything even compared to the lousiest 6-series card ever made (The 6200?) .. ANYTHING would be a good jump my friend, anything.. But im just trying to get the best bang-for-my buck thats all What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Though it's onboard, the lousiest 6 series GPU is the 6100. =D. I just bought an XFX 7600GS. It might not be a GT, but it's better than

Better than a GT ??!
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
No. The GS isn't better than the GT.
For those wondering, the onboard 6150 is about the equivalent of a GeForce 3. The 6800 Ultra would be a better card than the 7600GS, but only if it's cheaper. Waiting for the budget DirectX 10 cards is gonna be long since they've been scheduled for a summer release. There is a significant increase in performance between the GS and GT, and whether you plan on upgrading again this year should factor in what card you should get. If you won't, get the GT since you want a little more longevity from it. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
