DVD Making

Okay... here's the thing... I want to convert an .avi file to a file that can be played on a US/Canada DVD (my DVD player isn't region free)... Now here's what I've seen... in stores you usually get 4 episodes a DVD (anime-wise), I had X-Men TV series that had 20 episodes on a DVD oO and I can only "record" from TV around 3 hours... not sure how any of these work... but all I wanna do is this:

I have 16 episodes of a Korean Drama in .avi format, I have 16 files that add translations to the episodes in .srt format.... so my first impression is to make it so that the subs/episodes are ONE file instead of two seperate files with the same name... NO IDEA IF THIS IS right or how to do it... then somehow burn it on DVD (how many episodes anywayz since I've seen such variety)...

anywayz, any ideas or suggestions appreciated!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

For AVI to DVD..

I personally use VSO ConvertXtoDVD. You can set your outgoing DVD to PAL or NTSC. Any DVD made from scratch will be region free. It's only when you copy a licensed movie incorrectly that you would still have region restrictions.

If you want more eps, you'll have to sacrifice quality for quantity.

Be sure to check your settings for:
Quality vs. Speed of conversion
Target size, DVD5 or DVD9
Playback options..
Menu options.. (you can choose not to have menu, VSO has a very basic menu)
Chapter Info..

Subtitles. As long as the SRT file has the same name as the video file, VSO can add it. IE..
video01.avi
video01.srt
video02.avi
video02.srt
If i remember correctly, I think those subs can be turned off by the player through your subtitle options.

If you were thinking to hardsub the subtitles into your AVI before converting to DVD, I'd use VirtualDub.

I usually go to videohelp.com for all my video editing needs.
There are so many ways to approach DVD making. You just need to find what suits you best (Easy to learn, quality, etc)
For example, as easy as DVDShrink may be, its been proven that it produces crappy transcodes.

Lemme know if you need anymore help..

oh hell, here's the program

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Okay sry for the late reply... I just finally bought a huge set of DVDs... hmmm

How exactly do I know how much space it'll convert it to? I'm adding 6 episodes since that makes up 4.1GB which I think would fit a DVD (I'm not using a dual layer one)... but how can I tell what the space would be before I convert 'cause apparently it'll take a LONG time to (it said 8 hours before I stopped)

BTW is there a way to know how the background I added would look like 'cause the preview's real small... and I can't tell how the image would look like stretched >.<

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

A) Bumping

B) I spend 4 hours converting.... but hmm... I realized I accidently typed up something wrong at the title of the DVD in the menu.... is there a way to change it rather than to encode it from the beginning?

How ya doing, buddy?
