VISA lottery

Hey guys. Is this site legit?

I never knew you could obtain a VISA through some lottery system.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I just asked my girlfriend. She works for the United States Customs and Immigration Dept.

She says yes, this is a legitimate program and that the website is legal. 50,000 Green Cards are given away each year as an incentive to diversify America.

This program began during the Clinton Administration, so it's fairly new. This might explain why you hadn't heard of it.

She also says we should be allowed to see some of the losers this program winds up escorting into America. It's not worth the taxpayer dollars it takes to operate, according to her.

She's probably right.

Hmmm, have never heard about this. It seems like it could be legit. But I don't know if they are allowed to do lotteries. I mean, you can't just give this to anyone. But I guess if the registration is legit, then it might be.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I remember reading about this in The New Yorker awhile back, though I don't recall any specifics.

It is a very strange program, though, and I do wonder if it works to actually add any diversity to America. Wouldn't most people just come from larger, poorer countries where more people would sign up for it?

I have family friends who won a lottery to come to America from Nigeria not too many years ago. I'm not sure how you get into the lottery but yes this happens if only in some countries.
