I don't see why they needed to confirms this since they already said that they were working on SH5 for the next-gen console since the launch of silent hill 4...

but I can,t wait to see what they could do, with the amazing detail character they could make only for ps2, I just can't imagine what they could do with the ps3.

and I'm pretty happy that they return to the silent hill 2 atmosphere since it's the best on in the series (IMO)

I absolutely cannot wait for SH5. If it is anything like SH2 is will certainly be truly awesome. SH2 is certainly the best in the series as far as storytelling and overall atmosphere goes. (Although SH3 was more frightening outright, for me.)

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Aw man, I can't wait till the first screens, or even the first trailer. I'm sure this game will be quite the dish for the eyes, and the ears as no doubt Akira Yamaoka's soundtrack and sound effects will be delish (even twisted, heh).

BTW, could anyone give a source to the return to SH2 atmosphere. As I don't see any mention of that in the link Sexninja posted.

"Silent Hill 5" = HOTNESS

I can't wait. It's the best messed up in the head video games series out there.

GODLY!

Can't wait for possible 360 hillin. And SH1 wasn't easiy the scariest/creepiest game out of them all. This is truth. 2 just had a little better story and graphics. All of them are fucked up scary though.

If they truly bring back the psychological horror aspect, i'm sold. I LOVED SH2.

So, do all the SH games follow the same story line? I'd kinda like to start, and i'm hoping i don't have to track down a copy of SH1 to get started.

Excited for this. Although i'm thinking that i'll probably be starting with 1, 2 or 3, and won't get to this one for a while.

Big Resident Evil Fan, so can i assume i'm gonna like these ones? (Also really enjoying Siren if that means anything)

The Silent Hill games can be played independently (except for SH3 -- I seriously recommend playing SH1 before SH3), and you won't have to worry about not understanding what's happening. But they all have elements that connected, and subsequent games make references to older ones. It's just little details that make the series so engrossing, and so rewarding to the fans.

I definitely recommend that you hunt down a copy of all the SH games

As for Resident Evil, it's a different type of series. RE is more action-oriented, and has more jump-at-you scares. SH is more pyschological, cerebral, and scares you by getting under your skin with its atmosphere and mindgames.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I suggest you hunt down the first two games, but since they're quite rare now you can always emulate the first/download the PC version of the second. The third is very frightening, but a little underwhelming and short.

If you liked Resident Evil for the horror, once you play this you'll never look back.

For the record, Resident Evil's story is what really draws me to it. The horror comes second at best.

Well, if it's story you're looking for Silent Hill will rock your socks off. #2 in particular.

As for SH5 I can't wait for it. If the negative changes from 4 are undone (like the lack of puzzles), the combat is improved and the game does return to the feel of 2 then I'm sold.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?
