Operating System Uninstallation...

My computer: HP AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ Processor, 1GB memory, 250GB space, HIS Radeon X1650XT graphic card...

still it's SUPER CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP- got all the spyware and virus scan checked... still supreme crap

So a few people suggested it's my operating system that sucks.... I have a media center win xp... so my question is

My computer didn't come with a operating system CD... so how can I create an operating system for the media center (so I have it at least) and then uninstall it? Any suggestions?

You simply need to find an ISO of the operating system you want to use.

So you know, your computer certainly isn't crap, it's probably Windows combined with spyware. You say you have the virus/spyware problem fixed, but I somehow doubt you. What exactly does 'it's crap' entail might I ask? In any case, what do you use your computer for? If you like to game alot, you will want to stick with Windows. For about everything else you might like to try out a linux distro of some sort.

That system is not crap. Your ad-aware and anti-virus programs probably didn't find all that was/is lurking on your PC. You might want to save any important information and do a fresh install, which as KrazyTaco said, can be done through an ISO of the operating system, you could mount it to drive or possibly burn it to disc.

Burning the ISO to disc will then give you a hard copy of your operating system of choice, so that when you have to install your OS again, you won't have to go through the trouble of downloading it again.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Use Bittorrent or any favoured P2P software to get yourself a nice Windows installation disc, and burn it to CD. I second the recommendation to reformat and install.

Your specs sound exactly like the HP m7248n model (my machine) with an upgraded video card. Did you upgrade the video card yourself from an X300 or was it included?

Anyway, HP doesn't ship out the media center OS discs, the closest thing you can do is go to the PC Help and Tools section in your start menu and make recovery discs (basically restores it to factory settings, including all the bloatware originally on it).

I was having similar problems, my system certainly wasn't bogged down as you claim yours is -1 GB of RAM is more than enough to run all the processes- but I like to get all my money's worth out of the hardware, so I initially tried to install a different OS (XP Pro) to avoid having to deal with all the crappy programs and added features of media center I didn't need taking up resources.

The problem is, after formatting the C: partition and installing a different OS than the built-in Media Center, the machine just wouldn't boot the new OS. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with HP's version of the BIOS or the D: partition (which, similar to the recovery disks, can be used to restore Media Center to the way HP originally had it). Fortunately I had the recovery disks (you can also use the recovery partition, which I just mentioned), to revert back to HP's version of Media Center.

Basically, all you can do (if in fact you have an m7248n or a similar model) is go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall 95% of the preinstalled software. Most of which doesn't completely eradicate itself and leaves a mess in the registry...which you can't do much about other than manually deleting all the useless folders in Program Files pertaining to the uninstalled software and running a registry cleaner.

Honestly though, there is no way in hell your system should be "crap" due to Media Center by itself or any of HP's preinstalled crap (I recommend uninstalling the crap just to clean up the machine/get the 98% out of your hardware). It would help if you mentioned what the problem with your computer actually is.

On an aside note: If, in fact, you *do* find a way to install a different OS on the harddrive, I would love to be informed, but I have done quite a bit of research on the subject and haven't had any luck with it.

My friend has a laptop with the same graphic card, less space and he can work WOW and Black and White at the same time.... I can barely do a online RPG that has graphics half as worse as WOW

Anywayz, so now I know how to make a recovery disk thanks... but then there's no way I can install another OS without the media center >.<

Anywayz, then I'll back the media center up.... remove the media center, remove them from the program folder menu and somehow cleaning the registry (which I have no idea how to do)

I have a original operating system disk for my my media center pc, so if all else fails I might upload my copy of MCE.
A fresh format would do wonders on your system, because my computer has almost the same specs.
