How do you copy Dreamcast games?
We all know that you do not need to mod a Dreamcast to play a copied game, but I am not sure how to copy the games themselves. When you place the game in a CD or DVD rom you do not see any of the hidden files to copy.
Any Ideas? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Carefully.
You might also want to have a bootloader CD. (No, I'm serious, that's all there is to it) There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Bootloader CD?
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
You mean copy from an original Dreamcast disc?
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? Nothing wrong with not being strong
Nothing says we need to beat what's wrong Nothing manmade remains made long That's a debt we can't back out of |
You can not copy original Dreamcast discs, since they're neither standard CDs nor DVDs, but so-called Gigadiscs (which hold roughly about 1,2 GB of data). Needless to say, a standard CD/DVD drive can not read these discs.
It's much easier to just download game ISOs off the internet and burn them to standard CDs. Some might even come with an integrated bootloader (selfboot image) so you don't need a boot CD and swap discs. I was speaking idiomatically. |

You'll need the DC Coders cable if you want to make your very own backups of DC games.
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?cat...roducts_id=48& It's all self explanatory after you have the cable and DC all setup. Burn the image to a CD when you're done and you're good to go. I've seen 900MB CDRs available online and that should be plenty enough for a DC game. Some games do require boot discs if you download them online but most however do not. Mainly discs from different regions or early pirated games. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Most ISOs you find online have something indescretly ripped. I think the most obvious rip was voiceovers from Shenmue II
