i beat tetris! 999999!

so i was just listening to some Dimmu Borgir and playing tetris for a while and lost track of time and then i glanced at the score and it turned dark and said i was in the 900,000s! so i played a bit more and got 999999. it's a pretty awsome score and stuff so i just thought i'd let you know and discuss and say stuff like "n00b my granny got 999999 points 999999 times and i'm better than you LOLZORS hahah" and stuff. yeah.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Yeah, it's actually not as big a deal as you think. People are nuts over this game. (especially on the DS)

Not that I don't believe you, but you could have easily just done that on a emulator using save states to cheat, so it doesn't really mean anything.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I remember naz having a journal entry a while back about how he had a game going over days on the DS and had lines in the thousands. I remember I got to around 850 one day before I got tired and quit.

How ya doing, buddy?

Wow, this is quite possibly the greatest moment in my life. First I took a test at school, passed, saw this cute girl in a skimpy outfit finally (for late night mental references of course), then ate some seriously delicious food, a new update on ffxi, but this. THIS. THIS IS SO AWSOME, I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU RIGHT NOW!!

I LOVE YOU <3

I think CHz already did this on the DS.

How the fuck can you concentrate on playing Tetris with something like Dimmu Borgir playing?

I don't see any rocket ships launching in the background, this isn't real Tetris!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

So, what system/version of the game was this you were playing on? Every version of Tetris is different, some are kind of easy to go on forever, and some versions are impossible to go on past a certain point.

Original gameboy tetris is the hardest one. The DS version is too dumbed down, and pussified. Infinite rotation = exploitation.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Truth. It takes bloody forever to max out the score, but it's easy to do once you figure out the secret to LIVING FOREVER, a.k.a. mashing the A button.

I haven't played the DS version or any of the other newer ones, but the NES version was harder than the Gameboy version. The NES version had looser controls. In order to move pieces as fast as possible, you had to hold left or right. Tapping wouldn't move it as fast as you tapped. Holding a direction had a delay before it started moving fast though. On the later levels, the only way to get a piece over to the far side in time is to hold the direction before the piece is even at the top of the screen, and then you have to let go as it is flying across the screen, which is slightly difficult because the controls are loose, as I said before. On the Gameboy version, each tap moves a piece over one space. Holding goes slow, but if you can tap the buttons with decent speed, you could keep going on forever (or until you made a major mistake, more likely).

But neither of these versions had infinite rotation, which is a stupid thing that needs to be removed from the game, or have an option to turn off if it doesn't. But I'd much prefer having to deal with infinite rotation as long as the version actually lets me rotate in both directions *coughGFFarcadetetriscough*

Sounds more like buggy controls making it more difficult to me. I never played the NES one.

Tetris on the NES, score maxed in under 4 minutes

Interesting to watch. Too bad it's a TAS, so everything is severely manipulated. Oh well.
