Threads you avoid.

You ever see a thread, and sometimes just by the title you say to yourself FUCK THIS. Any specific threads you avoid, or do you sometimes choose to avoid threads based on other factors?

There are two I will, nine times out of ten, avoid at all costs. Debate threads on Religion and homosexuality. ESPECIALLY the ones that combine both topics. You can say what you want, but even with the best intentions the damned things always get ugly. There`s no winning, no changing anyone`s mind, so I`ve just stayed away since year one.

Then there are those threads that I find too late. Example, after 9/11 I came here about five hours later and found a thread on 9/11 with some five hundred posts. It was a sickening number. Because I have to read EVERY post, I was thinking about going through that thread when someone mentioned in GFChat (in those days it was an AIM chatroom) that CainEJW was being an absolute retard in that thread. That was enough for me. I never even saw the first post in that thread. The recent thread that made me feel this way was the one made after bobo temporarily shutdown Gamingforce. I just didn`t want to get started.

I've gotta be honest here, OO. Pretty much anything you make I avoid. They just seem like the same thing we've discussed a thousand times before. And I'm not saying it to be a dick, but you just make so many of them and they're all so mundane.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Let alone threads, I skip entire forums like Political Palace and the Sports Forum (I don't even remember it's name).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

This o- OH WAIT.

I skip the politics forum because I hate e-debates unless they involve me in some way, and I don't really participate in the dramathons GFF likes so much - I get enough of it elsewhere on the internet.

I've only ever posted in Political Palace once. Its not my cup of tea at all. And I dont think I've ever visited the sports forum once since I've been here.

I like OO's threads personally. They give me something to talk about and chat in the forums when the topic is of interest to me. Not everyone has been here long enough to discuss the "same old things" you know... =\

I don't usually avoid particular thread titles, or whole forums either, because the titles can be misleading. If it's about something I have no experience or knowledge in (sports and politics at the pinnacle of my list here) I usually leave it well alone. Sometimes I might read over a thread so I can learn something new, but I'd never throw myself into a discussion or make a contribution if I had no idea at all what I was talking about.

I usually avoid the political palace all together, as about 35% of the people don't even know what they are talking about, and few actually have an interesting opinion to begin with.

I also decided to avoid threads that are utterly foolish to begin with. I used to like the city streets, but now their are so many angsty trolls that cry themselves to sleep that I just don't bother anymore.

I try to avoid the Sewers and Political Palace. I have no interest in posting in the Sony or Xbox boards.

Specific threads I try to avoid at least posting in are ones with videos or images that aren't really funny, ones on things I've never heard of or that I don't find interested (I'm thinking Media Centre), and generally where the thread itself, and hence the people posting within it, seems obnoxious.

Well sometimes I come to gamingforce after an absence and check my user cp for subscribed threads with new activity. I end up going into one and thinking "this is shit, I absolutely do not care what any of these people have to say about this subject", and end up wondering why I was interested in the thread in the first place. It's worse when I realise I made the thread.

Almost anything with the words "depressed" "emo" or "suicide" in the title.

Honestly, it's not that I have anything against people with problems, I just never have any good advice to give... so I try and stay away from those threads.

I understand what you`re saying, Denicalis. It just gets to the point where there`s not much new to talk about and everything seems the same. In the end you can leave those threads to people that haven`t been here that long. While some threads get recycled, the new people`s answers to those same threads always remain fresh. That`s why I pull some of those GF Classics out of the closet once in a while.

I completely avoid Political Palace too, come to think of it. The last time I posted there, steadily, was a good four years ago. The effort just isn`t worth it to me, everyone that frequents it seems too fucking serious or tainted with this goofy anger that sticks with them even when they post in the kitchen forum.

Haha. Irony!

As for me, I've been trying to stay out of the drama, as best I can, anyway. Other than that, I click on what sounds interesting, or is generating a lot of interest. Fun times.

I avoid the Political Palace like the plague. Ugh. That, and the Quiet Place, Sports and Food forums. if I get myself involved in the food forums I naturally wouldn't ever leave them alone for five minutes.

The "View New Posts" button seems to get alot of use from me. Recently I've started ignoring the Microsoft and DDR/Music in Games/Whatever forums because they're dead beyond repair as well.

For once, you and I have something in common. I mean, I like a good political debate once in a while, but I usually hold those with my closest cohorts where I can at least get a stern word in without too many raised eyebrows. The Political Palace is pretty much the polar opposite of equal debate. It's kind of like watching CNN, only with much less bigotry.

Quiet Place has its purpose and while most people in there are just pointlessly angsting about how the sun didn't shine brightly enough there's usually a few worthwhile threads in there that discuss other things besides HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN TO MEEEEEEEEEEE!?

The sports forums I usually stay out of unless a huge sporting event is going down; case in point: World Cup.

I LOVE food threads though, since I'm always up to learning new edible delicacies from the community. Yes, that includes fries with mayo~

I've never actually been in The Concert Hall. Nice people, I'm sure, but if you don't play an instrument and aren't looking for sheet music, what's the point?

And yes, there's no point in bothering with Political Palace these days.

Now - Political Palace. I avoid it like man cock.

I avoid a lot of the forums now that I look at it:
Media Centre - I don't really care much for the latest movies or mainstream cds
Political Palace - Lots of debating, which I know I can't hold up a valid argument for if I ever took a side on any issue, not being currently aware of most events.
Angst - Pretty much every subforum feels like extra work to get to, despite being single clicks away.
Creator's Cafe - Far from being an artist, and unfortunately, I'm too lazy to look at other people's wonderful creations on a regular basis, as all I'd provide is an uninformed critique
Sports Page - I've never liked sports at all
The Kitchen - Talking about food seems to bore me
The Place of Laughs and Games - I'm not the type that wants to invest time clicking on a video or picture link. Humour is always person-specific anyways, so I'm scared that it'll be a corny kind o fhumour that doesn't appeal to me.
Testing Forum - (Now) I feel like a spammer when posting in it (save for the "Let's make a thread with the most posts on GFF topic").
Microsoft's Window - Never had an Xbox and never will
Request Forums - Leeching days are over save for a couple of rare circumstances

As for threads, I don't like the most popular ones with the most replies since the last post usually never relates to pure discussion by the time I check them out. eg. The Wii thread, PSP Discussion thread, etc.

Unless I really like a particular game (eg. Okami, Disgaea 2), then I'll avoid many of the game threads since they're usually conjecture when the game isn't out yet, and after it is out, I realize that I'm not quite so interested, or thread activity dies.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Only time I've been in the Political Palace was sometime last year to close some bizarre thread when nobody else was around. You guys can drink all the oil you want! I don't care!

Edit: WHAT MY BROWSER CRAPPED ITS PANTS AND POSTED THIS BEFORE I EVEN FINISHED TYPING EVERYTHING. I think I'm gonna have to go whinge about this in ANGST! now guys. I'm so close to the edge. So close..

In general, I avoid threads with three or more pages of response. I mean, come on. I'm not going to read through all those posts, and my post will probably get lost in the shuffle if it doesn't pertain to what's currently being discussed in the thread from earlier posts.

And there are forums that I completely ignore, mostly the Political Palace. I'm just not very 'up' on my politics these days, and I don't have the time to devote to crafting arguments for online debates.

Haha Kolba's like "Why the plague, plague never hurt me none. Now man cock I avoid." Thereby implying of course that man cock has somehow done injury to poor Kolba. Ah well, here's to gay rape. <3

I avoid threads in PP where the titles deal with topics about which I know nothing. It's too bad others aren't the same way. Also in the quiet place, threads about young romance are boring.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
