Halloween remake

Now I know not to trust 100% for IMDB lists, but I was looking up a composer and I saw that Halloween was listed under the "coming soon" list and I went to check it. Looks like Rob Zombie is remaking this. I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing, really.

This looks to have a 2007 release date.

Not much info on it really at the moment. So we can discuss the possible outcomes this remake can have.

I wouldn't be surprised if they remake the movie. They're remake every other horror movie, why not this one.

I was under the impression it was a sequel, not a remake. Oh well, either way it'sll hopefully revitalise the series.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Rob Zombie is directing it. Do you actually think it's going to revitalize the series or are you actually going to have this neverending denial trip until you go see the movie and subsequently have this uncontrollable urge to gouge your eyes out with a melon bowler?

Pretty much all we know at this point.

Personally I really wish they'd leave it the hell alone. Halloween is one of the few horror movies that is actually a decent movie underneath it all. Furthermore, it's one of the few horror movies that can still scare the fuck out of me.

If he does a "re-imagining", fine. Take the concept of the character, but do something different with it. I can live with a shitty movie that way. But don't do a straight remake. Don't cast Laurie Strode as some shitty new up and coming actress that we'll never hear from again (hello When a Stranger Calls). And for the love of God, you simply can't replace DOnald Pleseance. You just can't.

I was speaking idiomatically.

GI Joe is the codename for America's highly trained special mission force. Its purpose: to defend human freedom against COBRA. A ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world.

I will be good for one reason, Rob is a crazy guy and his movies are pretty fucked up so if he can tranfser that back into the franchise then it should be good.

I wish they'd leave Halloween alone. It's one of a few horror films and films in general that stood tall then and still does today. It's a classic, and although Rob Zombie could of course transfare some of his "fucked up" ideas, i'd much rather he made a new Halloween rather than disturb the old one.

Also he gave his pitch to Carpenter who said he liked it in a interview I read which is great. Also he says you can call it a remake if you want but he is re-imagining it with a prequel built into to explain the past of michael and how come he doesnt die and such. Hopefully it can do a better job of that then 6 did. Oh and I'm sure it will be better then the last 3

It's not a remake per-se, it's a prequel for about 70-80% of the flick and the rest is a bit of a re-imagining of the original.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Bleh, even if its a prequel, it'll suck just like all of the other latest Halloween movies.

Even though Rob Zombie is directing it, it'll not only be crappier that all of the other movies, it will probably be more.....what's the word....emo?

Halloween could actually work when re-made.
Because it's so very, very basic in a sense... Teen slasher roots.
It could work because in some way, most teen slashers were mere variations of this very story... Including most of the OTHER Halloween movies.

Quoted for truth.

For me, the Halloween series ended at 6 because I can't imagine Halloween without Loomis. Loomis is the anti Myers, neither one can die; they just beat the shit out of each other and then go into seclusion for a few years until they recuperate enough to start again. With the absence of Loomis, Myers has free reign to whatever the fuck he wants, there is no checks and balances.

And of course Pleasence IS Loomis, his ability to emulate drunken spouts of infernos rage is unparalleled; simply put he cannot be replaced. I am disappointed Zombie decided to take this project .

How ya doing, buddy?

I don't know, the halloween series kinda...killed it with me with Resurection.

I mean, sure, Michael finally killed his sister, but what about her son? Not to sound like some uneducated "My god he doesn't have taste in movies!" sort of deal, but I woudln't mind seeing them bring Josh Hartnet back to finish the series off at least.

Well, it's a remake/reimagination of the first movie (as well as some prequel story behind the reasonings). It'll be interesting to see where this goes, though.

How ya doing, buddy?
