The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Thread

I've tried to make a few threads about MMA in the past, but I seemed to be the only member interested in the sport. I'm hoping that this will have changed now since MMA seems to be a bit more mainstream in the US. Anyhow, feel free to discuss anything related to MMA here.

The Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale is taking place tonight. I'm not particularly interested in any of the match ups, but I have become a big Bisping fan. I hear that he has a partially torn ligament, but I'm hoping that he'll still be able to pull off the win. Also, Kenflo vs Stout - I'm really hoping for Stout to pull off a win here. I just don't like Kenflo.

Double Post:
Michael Bisping just won! I'm pumped!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Not much to say other than I am really happy about Michael Bisping and Matt Hamill winning their matches. I hope we get to see a lot more of both these great athletes soon. As for the Ortiz/Shamrock 2 fight. I think Shamrock is putting a lot on the line for this and as much as I would like to see him win I really think Ortiz has him outclassed. Regardless though, July 8 is going to be an exciting night.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

You're staring at me like I just asked you what the fucking square root of something.

Are you honestly interested in Shamrock vs Ortiz 2? It's such a waste of time. I also don't like Hamill much. He's just a one dimensional wrestler. His striking and ground game (other than wrestling) are so poor. He's going to need tons and tons of training to get to a decent level.

I'm rather impressed by Hamill. He hasn't been training very long and his skills are decent. Most notable are his wrestling skills. But with training anyone can get their skills up to par. Matt reminds me of that one filipino kid in our gym, but he wanted to learn MMA so bad that in a couple of months of training, he started giving a lot of the top guys a hard time.

Also, I really enjoyed Pride's open weight tournment. Silva vs Fujita, I knew Silva was going to win but how he won over Ironhead is what really impressed me.

As much as I dislike Liddell, I actually want him to defeat Babalu so that I can see Wanderlei destroy him. Us MMA fans are really getting spoiled with all of the events lately.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I thought the last pride lineup was pretty awesome. I was sorta angry that Werdum beat Gomi, so I was glad to see him get humbled. Crocop vs yoshida was good, somewhat predictable, like the Vitor or Silva fight.

I loved seeing Silva fight again. I'm totally looking forward to seeing Silva and Crocop battle again. A lot of people want Crocop to win because he lost against Fedor, but I don't really care... I just want to see that fight.

I'm looking forward to iceman vs silva too. I hope silva can fight in good condition though... I doubt he'll come out of the fight with Mirko unscathed.

I'm sorta glad that Fedor is taking time to heal because the rematch between Mirko and Silva would never happen otherwise.

Anyone watch the Bas fight? In my opinion, Kimo would've gotten killed in the same way. Bas is still a great fighter.

I'm getting pretty tired of Shamrock always disputing calls. I know they wanna push this Tito vs Shamrock feud, but this is getting pretty ridiculous. I hope there isn't another rematch.

There was some talk about Bas vs Shamrock, but Bas was saying, in the nicest possible way, that it wouldn't be very classy to challenge someone on a losing streak. I mean.. the guy's last win was against Kimo. A fight against El Guapo would be interesting to watch though.

Sorry for the fragmented stream of consciousness... It's late and there were a lot of topics I wanted to bring up!

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Pride OWGP Finals - OMG

Best card of the year, especially if you pretend Naka vs Nakao and random chubby Korean dude vs Morais never happened.

CRO COP just dominated. I'm pumped for Mirko/Fedor 2!!!

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I would really like to see GSP as the champ of the welterweight division. I don't like Hughes or Penn. I like GSP for the same reason a lot of people like Randy Couture. Acts like a champ win or lose, is always so humble and classy win or lose, great fighter, etc. I guess I'll just have to wait for that to happen.

And I won't spoil the results for tonight's event.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I already saw it - live of course. Hughes' stand up is so much worse than I thought it was. GSP's gameplan against him is so obvious - keep it standing and knock him out. I feel that he has the necessary TD defense and BJJ skills to keep it standing. Man, I can't wait for that fight.

Also, LOLin at the "I'm not impressed by your performance" comment.
