Soundtrack to your death?

Was having a few beers with friends last night and this topic came up.

This is purely hypothetical! Don't go posting "but this could never happen..."

So in some twist of fate or another, it has transpired that you are about to die, the details ain't important unless you want em' to be, hell, go nuts, make your own death too if you like!
Anyway somehow you have the final luxury of listening to one last song. What ya gonna listen to? You may not be even talking your favourite song, just one that comforts you maybe? Reminds you of someone?

To get the ball rolling, myself i'd probably pick "Vapour Trails" by Rush, its a seriously uplifting song pretty good for such a situation, also dying listening to Neil Peart would be a bonus! Alternatively maybe "Muffin Man" by Frank Zappa, i've always wanted to die laughing.

If this is already a thread somewhere apologies. Mods move this at your leisure if necessary

Jam it back in, in the dark.

"Light of Day, Day of Darkness" by Green Carnation. Because, hey, who DOESN'T want an extra hour to live when shit's getting dire?

"C'est toi, mon pere!" from Massenet's Thais; it's the last duet between Thais and Athanael, where Thais has a vision of Heaven and dies, not hearing Athanael's confession of love to her.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

"I Hope You Die" by the Bloodhound Gang. I might as well sing and laugh before I die.

How ya doing, buddy?

I was thinking about "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd, but that sounds a little too cheezy and cliche. I think I would prefer "Dinosaur" by King Crimson for the whole theme of "I'm dead, but people still won't leave me alone." If I was going out with a bang, like a soldier on the front lines in a no hope miracle/suicide mission, I think I would like to hear "Set It Off" by Audioslave or "Reign Of Blood" by Slayer.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Jon Brion - Bookstore
From the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind OST. Don't ask why, I have no idea.

Ok, maybe I do. The song's nice. It makes me calm and I've just recently heard it so I'm kind of hooked right now. I wouldn't mind hearing it as my last song though, mainly because it reminds me of my most important friends from high-school, two guys and two girls. They've all practically left town (or are about to leave) now after graduation and I don't know when I'll be seeing them again. I wouldn't mind dedicating my last thoughts to them and my family.

Too bad the song is only like 0:52. I better think quick.

"Southern Belles in London Sing" by The Faint. Has very little to do with death, but the theme of returning home from some long holiday has a few parallels with belief in reincarnation, and the overall sound of the song is fitting for the end of a given thing.

Pink Fluffy Dinosaurs by Hooverphonic

True, you would not thing it would be appropriate given the circumstances, but it's rather suiting upon listening to it. Plus, I want the world to remember me as "Oh yeah, he's the guy who listened to that Pink Fluffy Dinosaur song that has nothing to do with dinosaurs before he dies."

Also, it's a very "floaty" kind of song, and since my spirit would soon be floating up (or down depending) when I die, it is quite relevant indeed.

I'm going to be a geek and pick "To the End of the Wilderness" from the Wild ARMs OST. It has always been an incredibly touching song for me and makes me emotional for some reason. A nice resolute ending after a very melancholy and yet triumphant mix of whistle and acoustic guitar. It also makes me think "the start of something new", especially after watching it with the in-game intro so many times.

"Who Wants To Live Forever" by Queen. One of my favourite songs, and sort of suits the occasion, I suppose. Or maybe "The Show Must Go On", again by Queen.

Probably 'Missing The War' by Ben Folds Five. Just seems like the type of song I'd want to die to. Especially that minute or so.

"Gentle Moon" by Sun Kil Moon. As an atheist, this song pretty much perfectly sums up how I feel about other people and the world in general. The alt-country instrumentation is nice and dreamy, too, which seems an appropriate atmosphere to die to.

Lyrics:
Spoiler:
smile down on us sun, show your rays
when things come undone
all animals lead us to light
when we can't see
stars, saturn and moon, glow for those
who cannot get through
rain fall and voice sound for those of whom
still are not found

gentle moon, find them soon
gentle moon, find them

black sky and black sea, lighten up
when we can't breathe
all dreams escape fire, over worlds
fly but won't tire
slow down on us wind, hold us still
when everything spins
all secrets and lies, let them out

dreams escape fire, they won't tire
dreams escape fire, they won't tire

gentle moon, find them soon
gentle moon, find them soon

all calendars pass, days die off
and hope cannot last
but if love was like stone, then yours was mine
through to my bones
but how can we give back to those
with whom we can't live
when will the flame break
and spare the good people it takes

souls escape fire, they rise higher
souls escape fire, they rise higher

gentle moon, find us soon
gentle moon, find us soon
