Girl Got Game aka Power by Shizuru Seino

Well just recently I've been bored because the stockpile of shonen manga is running out, instead, yesterday I read this shoujo comedy drama. This one is worth reading for its eccentric humor.

Girl Got Game (originally published in Japan as Power!!) is a manga drawn by Shizuru Seino about a girl forced to pretend to be a boy.
Kyo Aizawa is a girl whose father is crazy about basketball. His dream was to go as far as the NBA, but, because of an injury, he couldn't. So, when they moved, he enrolled his daughter Kyo in Seisyu High School, which was famous for two things — cute girl uniforms, and a fast and furious boys basketball team. When Kyo got her uniform, she is shocked to discover, not a cute girl uniform, but a guy's outfit. Only then does she discover her father's plan, to get her in Seisyu as a boy to play on their top-ranked team!
The story, rather than being centered on basketball, is mainly about Kyo, and how she begins to like her male roommate Chiharu Eniwa. The story proceeds quite fast and by the end of the first volume, he is going to find out her secret. Kyo has some explaining to do to hide her true gender. But, eventually, Chiharu finds out. The manga (originally published in Japan by Kodansha) has been translated into English and is available in North America from TOKYOPOP which in August 2005 completed the domestic translation of all 10 volumes.
While the story is not centered on basketball, the manga's English title is clearly connected to the Spike Lee film He Got Game.
Personally I dont read shoujo manga at all but I found this series is quite interesting, a quite refreshment if you're tired waiting the current ongoing series and looking for some humorous manga. Has anyone read this? This manga is perfect combination of shounen/shoujo ai + Bishounen + Shoujo cliche drama + Humor.

Allow me to share a track from this CD. Here ya go.
I think he should have paid you .01¢ instead.

Yup this one is definetly a good read! My sister bought it from Tokyopop a while ago and I thought its another of those shojou love-love themes... during my uni holiday I went ahead and dive into the first book and finds it quite interesting to read.

Go and read it!
I want the animation of it!

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I've read a few volumes a few years back and thought the premise was kind of childish, but overall it's alright. I think there are a lot more shoujo manga on a girl pretending to be a boy who likes a guy and then the guy finds out type things. I also think the story whips by quickly. If you like genres like this, maybe you'll like the longer Hanakimi, which drags her secret out for, oh, forever.
