Renting a 360?
So the past two weeks I have been attempting to track down a 360 to rent. So I can also rent Dead Riseing. The local Family Video store was the only one around here that rents 360's so I get in line. The guy right before me "lost" the system. I was furious. So now i'm back to the drawing board. I called up Blockbuster and asked if they rented them. To my surprise I got a jackass that laughed at me and said they have not done that for years. I rented a PSONE back in the day when they first came out. So then I remember renting a Dreamcast at Hollywood Video..so I called them.
This one is weird..the guy told me they did rent them but they would have to scan the credit card first. Which is a given. But then he backed out saying"Oh you mean system? Oh we only rent the game." Why would he want to scan the credit card to rent a game? Now to the point. Anyone know of anywhere else (In the US) I can rent a 360? Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Your friend's house should suffice. I guess they assume kids are going to steal games, or perhaps use it as a method to verify they're of age, but your best bet is going to a buddy's house...or buying one at a game store that allows a 7-day return policy or something...
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
Yeah, well i'm sure they don't do it anymore just because of what someone just did at Family Video. I don't know how you "Lose" a console. Especially when they are going to get charged around 600 bucks.. just for a 360? Thats stupid. I'm pretty sure you have to be 18 so kids can't really rent them. Well if they beg the rents to do so.
If my friend (the only one that has a 360) hadn't gone back to college i'd be playing it. But looks like i'm going to have to go on the 2 hour drive to play DR. Worth it? From what I hear.. it is. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
The only thing I can think of is buying the system (new or used) and renting the game then returning the system.
Unfortunately both of these methods require you have enough money for the system up front. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |

I wasn't defending anyone. I was more so calling the person stupid for either losing or saying he lost the system. Why so hostile?

I have not walked into a Blockbuster or Hollywood video for ages so I have no idea if they rent consoles anymore.
I think your best bet is to go to a Funcoland or some other used game store that will let you try out a game before you buy it. The alternative is to take my word that the XBOX360 simply rocks and is worth the purchase price (especially if you are willing to pay for Xbox Live). Chromehounds, Dead Rising, Street Fighter II, Oblivion for released titles and certain exclusives like Gears of War/Halo 3 makes the console a worthwhile purchase so if you can afford it - don't beat around the bush and buy the console. ![]() FELIPE NO |
Yeah, thats what it's going to come down to. I have read alot of info on the system and it sounds pretty damn good. Who knows.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() |
Renting an Xbox 360? To me, the entire idea is ridiculous. I remember that my local video store used to rent out Playstation 2 for about 80 bucks for a week, and then rental fee for memory card, extra controller, and then the game you rent itself.
Waste of cash. But I guess we're not here to tell you why you shouldn't rent one. Friends' house. 'Nuff said. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |

[edit] I also remember renting an SNES and with it, Super Mario World and Final Fight. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I rented the SNES when it came out, with actraiser and mario world for 10 bucks for a few days.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Note that you're comparing decade-old systems to the pricing for the rather new stuff. You'll expect prices to rise.

Ah, the days of renting consoles... I used to rent a NES/Genesis when I stayed at my grandmothers. I'd rent it for one day, and play for 24 hours, straight through the night and everything. (Back when I didn't own any consoles myself.) Fun times.
