Computer Fan
My computer has been making noises lately, I assume its the fan. Everytime I open too much programs (or cpu usage at close to 100%) or just whenever I start hearing the fan. The sound isn't strange or anything, its just that the fan goes off often. It wasn't always like this, so I was wondering if anything is wrong with my computer or if I need to replace the fan.
Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]()

Depends on what the noise is like. Is it a very high-pitched chirruping sound or a constant rumbling or vibration? If it is a chirruping sound it may be your power-supply or power-regulation components on the motherboard rather than a fan.
One sure-fire way to figure out if it is a fan or not is to simply open up your case and (carefully) use your finger to slow down and stop each fan one by one. Only do this for a second or two at most; you will know if it is a faulty fan because the noise will suddenly stop. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
