Similarities between VGM and "normal" music

Has anyone notice that some VG music motiffs sound like ripped straight from a song that has nothing to do with videogames?

An example I can give is "On the other side of the mountain" form FFVII, some parts sound exactly as a classical piece "Lagrima" by Francisco Tarrega, and there are many more....

(NOTE: I think I saw a similar topic here, but I just can't find it anymore, hehe, sorry)

Jam it back in, in the dark.

There's always the similarities between Sonic 3 and Michael Jackson's music. Of course, it's no coincidence once you see the Youtube video on Sonic 3.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

How about American Money from Cowbop Bebop and Joy Joy Time from Suikoden 1? There's a certain motif in there that they both share. I don't know which came out first.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

How ya doing, buddy?
You all think you got good deals, huh? Ha! You frugal and observant shoppers have more to learn.

None of that approaches this:

The Mr. Methane CD, purchased over ebay for .01¢. Yeah, free shipping. This guy performs all sorts of neat stuff, including the doot doot, doot doot from the Blue Danube.

Allow me to share a track from this CD. Here ya go.
I think he should have paid you .01¢ instead.

It is cool when artist inspire on videogame music!! jeje, I also have heard some people say "thats sounds like megaman" when listening to Joe Satriani, in fact, one friend of mine also said abour Satriani's "The Forgotten" -"thats sounds like Starman" from Mario Bros...

But it isn't that cool when vgmusic composers rip directly form other songs =s

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

The first 12 notes of "Aeris' Theme" were apparently "lifted" from Samuel Barber's "Medea's Meditation and Dance of Vengeance".

Chrono Trigger's "Kingdom Trial" sounds remarkably simlar to Pink Floyd's "The Trial." Also, the phantom forest theme in FFVI shares similarities with another Pink Floyd song, namely "Is There Anybody Out There?" The part that comes in about 1:30 into the song. Finally, an interlude in Opeth's "To Rid the Disease" sounds very similar to Chrono Trigger's "Memories of Green."

How ya doing, buddy?

A band called Mors Principium Est has a song called Another Creation, that has the melody of JENOVA Battle from FFVII.

I think it's a real tribute, but hearing a death metal version of Jenova is pretty hilarious.
