Your haven.

Where do you go for reprieve when you feel overwhelmed?

There's this old ass cemetary by where I live with a lot of interesting mausoleums. It's usually very quiet and empty there, so it's a great place to get away from the noise of the world.

How ya doing, buddy?

I don't have a single specific haven. Anywhere quiet with no or few people works for me. Bookstores and libraries are good as well as a nearby lake that is very quiet and has a lot of wildlife. The lake is my personal favorite thinking place.

There is NOWHERE i can go here in Sydney that doesn't require a two hour drive or a four hour train/bus ride where I can relax.

My room is the only place where I can truly relax.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

my room is where I get all my peace and tranquility. I can lock my door and ignore everyone and if it gets too loud I turn on my favorite tunes and relax and I also have an aquarium in my room so I often like to stare at the fish

When I get too stressed out with the world, I just go into my room and take a nap. That calms me down more than anything else.

Interesting. My room (at home or at apartment) is always a place I can go to for some thinking time, etc.; but another place I'm comfortable with "getting away" is on public transportation. Just put on some noise-isolating earphones and grab a seat, and you're in your own world. Maybe that just works for me since that way fits conveniently into my schedule. It may also have something to due with me liking to be alone when there are other people around. :/

There's a little patio on top of the servery that overlooks the soccer fields. I prefer that corner to myself if I feel overwhelmed at times.

I agree with you. I use to love riding the school bus because I could look out the window and daydream. However, the only form of public transportation we have is a bus--and I don't know if other southerns have the same problem--but all the females on the bus have to talk to everyone, especially if there's a female bus driver. My mom and little sister are very social with them, so they don't realize that maybe I don't want to ride the bus to be bombarded by their conversations. Don't get me wrong, I like socializing, but when I ride in a vehicle the majority of the time I want to daydream.

I used to use my room to get away from it all. However, you can't do that in a dormitory since you have to live with someone else (and sometimes they don't have a life). It causes my blood to boil to think that I can't even escape in my own room! If it's after 5 p.m. I will sometimes sneak into my workplace and use that time to get away.

However, we hired more people this semester that go to the library to study, so that probably means I won't have that area anymore to hide in. I would hide in the study rooms, but they have windows and you know how hard it is to relax when you know someone could be watching you like an animal in a zoo? I'm on the constant search to find places to relax and daydream.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Although I used to go into a corner with a blanket in my hand, I now just go in my room and lay down on my bed.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Anywhere quiet usually works best for me. There aren't very many areas around my condo where I can relax apart from perhaps the balcony. Even then, I still prefer remaining indoors.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I usually go to my room since I can't seem to find privacy anywhere else. I also also feel more relaxed at night than morning for some reason.

I also unwind most easily at night. Something about being up when most are asleep instills a sense of tranquility...

I don't know, my room I guess, but I spend 80+% in there(during the day) when I'm not at college, so I guess you could call it a place to get away, to hide from family at least, especially with my MP3 Player on full blast...

In fact, I would say my room is my getaway place...

My room won't count since I'm in here way too frequently, so I actually count my piano in the living room to be more of a getaway place. There, I just let my fingers loose and play my songs with more expression than usual and let stress out through music.

My room in the middle of the night. (Lights all off. I need darkness)

It's where I just spend time talking to myself and thinking where I went wrong.

I used to chill out by sitting under my desk in my old room but now I've moved I find the shower a better place than any. Another place would be a bridge over the motorway near where I live, but only at night. I've not seen anyone up there in a long while and in the dark it's almost peaceful in a way to watch the traffic on its way down the road. Since there are no streetlights either you can see the stars perfectly; it's even better with a full moon.

There's this forest where I live with a mountain in it. I like sitting at the top of it, that way you have a look over the village. It rocks. Always quiet.

I too, turn inward for solace. I also live by a lake, and love going to shore to watch the sunrise, it keeps me sane.

At the University of Manitoba during the evenings with all the lights on around University Centre and the Administration building. It is quite beautiful, and it helps me think. I usualy sit on one of the the benches and stare at the sky and around at the buildings.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
