Hooking my TV sound into my computer

So, there's probably a way to do this, but what is the best way for me to use one set of surround sound speakers for both TV/movies/psx (from a digital cable box/tv) and for my computer?

Well, for starters, you have to be able to physically hook them up to one or the other. Typically the only way to get it rigged up to a computer is with a headphone sized jack. Unless of course you have a fancy ass sound card, in which case you likely have some rca or whatever inputs. In that case, I'd say obtain a switchbox for this type of thing, and run your cables. It's possible your audio system has a secondary (or tertiary) set of inputs that render this switchbox unnecessary, but hard for me to tell from here.

DVD Plaer ---------> Switch -----> TV
Cable Box ------------| |----->Computer

It depends on what sort of audio output options your components have.

In my case I have a dvd, d-vhs, and ps2 that all have optical outputs, and a TV/set top box that will only output sound via an RCA jack.
I run all of the optical devices into a 5 port switch which runs to the computer, and on to the speakers. For TV I run the RCA cables into the breakout box that my creative soundcard has. ( NOTE they do sell RCA -> 3.5mm headphone jack adapters, but I don't know if they support surround sound that way )
The optical devices sound great but, in my case, TV doesn't sound too good mostly due to the limitations on control of source audio. Also sometimes an feedback loop can occur when people, other than me of course, start turning on devices without paying careful attention to mix levels first.

To hook up multiple computers, TV, console games etc. Works great, is a fantastic decoder, has tons of connections.

It's the only Creative device that I can recommend without reservation.
