Ultimate Concern

Considering all aspects of life and what it is to be human... what would you say you greatest or most important concern would be?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

It stems from two worries: 1) life, 2) not wanting to go crazy. I think I'm right.

I think I'll avoiding playing the cancer card twice in a row....

I'd have to say finding a job. I'm 20 and I've only had volunteer work here and there, nothing solid. Well, except for a job at my high school's cafeteria but my "boss" thought I was stealing so she's a terrible reference. I don't have any money and I don't have any experience and it's becoming a very big problem.

I was speaking idiomatically.

You're only 20 and you have volunteer work experience. That goes a long way in helping you with resumes and job consideration. As for real jobs? Just act now. It's not too late. As for money? Can't you just borrow some from your parents in order to do what you need to do? You can always pay them back later.

My biggest concern is money. I'm bad at saving. I'm almost addicted to material possessions, especially DVDs. I'm also not sure if I'll ever go beyond earning $10 per hour since I lack the skills to do anything distinctive. Not knowing what I want to pursue is also a problem. My so-called 'dreams' died once I left high school, so I've been a lost random chooser since then.

Not gonna happen, chief. I can probably predict a few close calls in the next few decades or so but, chances are, you'll die a sad man.

QFT. Don't be afraid of the small-fry jobs. Hell, some of them can pay really well. Take a loan out and get a cheap-ass car and become a delivery driver. I'm making around 800 dollars every two weeks working under 20 hours.

As for me? My main concern is what I'm going to do with my life. Yeah, pizza delivery is great and all, but the charm sorta wears off when you know the area like the back of your hand. I wanna move on, but I don't know what. I'm hoping that this degree the college I'm transferring to in economics, philosophy and political science turns out well, but who knows?

I was speaking idiomatically.

I would....but I can't work yet. I want to get out there but I'm just not strong enough. By the time I am, all the people with work experience will be back from school and have all the decent jobs bundled up nicely. Granted, I realize that 20 isn't that old, I guess I'm just paranoid that nobody wants someone who has no skills beyond encyclopedic knowledge of airplanes that I got from my volunteer job I'm sure Pizza Pizza will admire my "unique" skills and hire me on the spot.

pizza pizza may have no use for that knowledge, but the expierance and motivation that volunteer work shows will give yo ua leg up over the typical no nothing people trying to get hired there.
