God dammit CHz, there goes my hope of nominating something from the Marble album within the next 12 weeks.

THEME WEEK NOM TIME

OKAY SO this song I'm nominating is from an album where the tracks all transition into each other rather than with complete stops. This song is a little over 5 minutes long, but partway through there's a brief pause where the song stops and then a minute and a half of nonsense (it's seriously nonsense). I'm not sure if the last bit can be cut off or not since it's really not part of the song, or if the whole track has to go up.

Album: iFUTURELIST
Artist: Akira Yamaoka & ocean
Track Title: April Fool's Song
Track number: I dunno I guess it's 14 or so
Year: 2006
Catalog: LC-1406
Source: LC-1406 | iFUTURELIST - VGMdb
Additional info: These vocals fit the theme of the week so god damn well.

Crayon Physics Deluxe (Game Rip) - Afternoon Snooze
I really like this one. Very soothing.

Daffy Duck in Hollywood (Genesis Game Rip) - Options ~ Game Over

This is also pretty good. Nice melody.

Drag-on Dragoon 2 Original Soundtrack - Symphonic Poem "Forbidden Prelude"
I love this song so much and I can't even explain why

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom (Game Rip) - Just Desserts
This is...also really good. Starting to get worried about my point spread.

Moonlit Shadow - Lullaby
This wasn't bad, but not up to the par of the other songs.

NANOSWEEP 6 - 4:00pm
This isn't bad either, really picked up after the first minute.

Super Bonk (Game Rip) - Twilight Space
This is a lot better than I remembered it being when Ed showed it to me a while back, but this isn't a week where I can give points freely.

Ways For Liberation - Film
Okay.

Forbidden Prelude: 3 points
Game Over: 1 point
Afternoon Snooze: 1 point
Just Desserts: 1 point

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Guess we ought to have at least three votes before Sunday, eh?

Crayon Physics Deluxe (Game Rip) - Afternoon Snooze Airy, ambient, and amiable, if anorexic. Also, would it have killed the nominator to give it a proper fadeout? Audacity is a free program, after all.

Daffy Duck in Hollywood (Genesis Game Rip) - Options ~ Game Over Not at all what I expected, but it has not only a great tracker vibe but a kickass melody.

Drag-on Dragoon 2 Original Soundtrack - Symphonic Poem "Forbidden Prelude" I find most Drag-On Dragoon/Drakengard stuff to be too "Hamauzu" for my taste, by which I mean there are a lot of flashy orchestral tricks and techniques but very little to latch onto in terms of melody or memorability. This piece is a bit better than that low standard, luckily, but it's not doing much else for me.

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom (Game Rip) - Just Desserts I was JUST about to nominate something from this game when Just Desserts came up. This isn't the song I would have nominated but it does demonstrate the dark, Elfmannesque quality that makes the music so delightful.

Moonlit Shadow - Lullaby Most lullabies aren't this jazzy, since it's kind of hard to fit a light ensemble into a child's bedroom. As far as loungy heavily-accented jazz goes, it's okay.

NANOSWEEP 6 - 4:00pm The beginning is nice and relaxing, but I lose interest when the music goes all 1978.

Super Bonk (Game Rip) - Twilight Space Not the best chiptune, but it'll do in a pinch.

Ways For Liberation - Film Lots of beats and not a whole lot else.

The Point Spread
Options - 3 pts.
Just Desserts - 2 pts.
Afternoon Snooze - 1 pt.

2 pts.} Daffy Duck in Hollywood (Genesis Game Rip) - Options ~ Game Over
- Nomination bias. I like the really fast arpeggio that goes through a lot of this. I also enjoy the melody quite a bit. The effects here are awesome sounding, plus I personally am a huge fan of FM synth stuff, and this is a really great use of the Genesis sound chip. Matt Furniss is my favorite composer because of stuff like this.

2 pts.} NANOSWEEP 6 - 4:00pm
- I really enjoy this type keyboard focused Jazz fusion in general. Personally I like the crazy meter switching stuff that happens somewhere in the middle here. Overall just pleasant sounding and relaxing even with the fast pace later which I really like. I love the synths.

1 pt.} Ways For Liberation - Film
- I like the shuffle feel, and the sounds used in particular, the heavy distortion sounds are cool, which are pretty interesting when mixed with the calmer chords. This has some synth pad chords that I like the contrast to everything else of a lot.

1 pt.} Super Bonk (Game Rip) - Twilight Space
- This has quite an enjoyable pace and melody to me in it, especially the bass. The chord changes really appeal to me a lot too, and I just like chiptunes.

Wow, completely missed the call for JBCS week. I actually know of some vocal tunes that I would've liked to see in SOTW, so this is unfortunate.

1 point: Symphonic Poem ~ Forbidden Prelude
1 point: Lullaby
1 point: 4-00 AM
1 point: Film
1 point: Twilight Space
1 point: Just Desserts
Just missed: Options ~ Game Over

THIS WEEK. Christ it's so good, the point spread doesn't do it justice. Every single one of these is standout, with the exception of one. Why are the weeks so good recently.

Lullaby is real. Though I have reservations about the vocalist's voice, the vocal melody is actually my favorite part, which is saying something considering the stellar jazz work in the background.

Hey there, Forbidden Prelude. I enjoyed this track mildly well back in that previous BSC, I am now completely in love with it, as I am with the rest of the soundtrack. The poor mixing/mastering job is one of the biggest travesties of VGM.

Wasn't expecting much from Twilight Space when it first started playing with that generic drumbeat, but wow the melody and pretty much everything more than made up for it. It's rare I'm enthralled by these kind of tunes nowadays, but when I am, yeahhhh.

4-00 is one of my favorite Nanosweep tunes, though I've only heard Nanosweeps 3 and 6. From the Crystal Silence intro to the Gran Turismo groove that kicks in later, it's a real impressive piece of work. Best bit is the wild 30 seconds at 1:45.

Film showcases some crazy awesome synth manipulation all around, especially that synth at 2:51. Super catchy dance tune.

Just Desserts is fascinating. It's such a confusing tune which makes it difficult to talk about, but I really liked it, especially the lower register piano stuff. Really curious about this game from hearing the track.

The only track I wasn't too fond of was Afternoon Snooze. It's meandering is similar in style to Diamante's works, though not half as good. Better than the stuff from Aquaria I've heard, though, I'll give it that.

Putting Options ~ Game Over on the just missed list was probably the hardest decision I've had to make in a while. Mr. Furniss has produces a hell of a lot of quality Genesis tunes, and even then I was more than pleased with this, though that just might be those arpeggios talking.

I keep saying things like "keep up the good work" but god with weeks this good it bears repeating. Keep up the good work!

Finally getting in on a theme week!

EDIT: Changed my nom. Feel free to delete Who Am I? from the FTP. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Artist: Rita
Game: Shikkoku no Sharnoth
Song: Dorchadas

Song was ripped from Youtube, so that's literally all the info I have.
Would you like me to upload the song? I can help you---I've got the Shikkoku no Sharnoth soundtrack CD.

Anyway I feel like posting comments too. I wasn't planning to 'cause :busy: but this week is so good as said above.

It's interesting to see Crayon Physics Deluxe (Game Rip) - Afternoon Snooze split opinions somewhat. I personally really like it, but don't read too much into that 'cause I'm a sucker for meandering, fluffy quasi-ambience. To me it's just incredibly delightful and sweetly captivating!

I don't get as much of a 'strong melody' vibe from Daffy Duck in Hollywood (Genesis Game Rip) - Options ~ Game Over as some of you do, but it doesn't really matter when the energy is so high. Enjoyable while it lasts without leaving an impression, but the soundchip is addictive, there's no question.

Drag-on Dragoon 2 Original Soundtrack - Symphonic Poem "Forbidden Prelude" really sounds like something one of those movie trailer music groups, like E.S. Posthumus, would produce. It's OK; the over-the-top nature turns me off after a while, but it nicely changes things up towards the end. Decent, but not too gripping compared to other tracks of the same style.

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom (Game Rip) - Just Desserts is weird, schizophrenic almost. I like it a good deal, particularly the constantly reintroduced contrast between the darker/fuller and lighter sections. Very interesting stuff.

I'm always more than happy to express my love for anything and everything Miki Higashino, and Moonlit Shadow - Lullaby gives me a good opportunity to do so. I'm a fan of the Moonlit Shadow album, and this song shows how versatile and talented Higashino is. Smooth and very easy to enjoy, with just a tiny question mark over the vocals.

The build and development of NANOSWEEP 6 - 4:00pm is to die for, as is the charismatic de Blob-esque sound. The groovy finish nicely completes the whole package.

Super Bonk (Game Rip) - Twilight Space sounds generic for the most part but that melody is so damn cool it leaves me with a positive impression of the track. Talk about a saving grace!

Ways For Liberation - Film is fantastic, I love it. Everything in it is cool and just plain works, and I was thoroughly entertained for the full near-6 minutes. that build that you can hear around 1:50: the best part of this week. kors k is a legend

the POINT is clearly to harass nominators for complete gamerips..

1 point: Ways For Liberation - Film
1 point: Crayon Physics Deluxe (Game Rip) - Afternoon Snooze
1 point: NANOSWEEP 6 - 4:00pm
1 point: The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom (Game Rip) - Just Desserts
1 point: Moonlit Shadow - Lullaby
1 point: Super Bonk (Game Rip) - Twilight Space
7th: Daffy Duck in Hollywood (Genesis Game Rip) - Options ~ Game Over
8th: Drag-on Dragoon 2 Original Soundtrack - Symphonic Poem "Forbidden Prelude"

I would feel bad for not giving Daffy Duck any points but it looks like it's doing OK without my perhaps ultra important vote. Top week, chaps.
