Translation job salary quetion - freelance

Hi

I just got e-mailed by a translation agency asking if I was interested in doing some translation for them (freelancing).
I've never done this before and I'm assuming it's a translation from one language to english and vice verca.

Does anybody know what these kind of assignments pay?
Somebody in here posted a website that shows the salaries of different jobs, but I cannot find it again.

As for freelance translations, I suppose the going rate depends on the difficulty of the translation, as well as the language in question. For instance, it should be more expensive to translate something obscure like Vietnamese, compared to Spanish. A technical paper should also cost more than, say, a magazine article.

Be warned that the advent of crowdsourcing tools such as Amazon's Mechanical Turk (leveraged to good effect by this company), is bringing down translation costs.
